  3. Carlos Carvalhal: 'We must put this in our heart and play with this next season'

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Quote Message: I'm like the fans and the players, very disappointed. We played against a strong team and they were better in the game. I must say thank you to the fans, they were the best fans in Wembley. We are proud of what we did during this season. This moment is something we must put in our heart and play with this next season.
  4. Victory secures promotions record for Bruce

Hull promoted to the Premier League

Today's victory is a record-breaking achievement for Steve Bruce, who is the first manager to win four promotions to the top flight in the Premier League era.

The former Manchester United defender took Birmingham up in 2002 and 2007, and was also promoted with Hull in 2013.

  5. Respect to the Wednesday fans

    Thanks Tom.

I reckon we ought to spare a thought for the thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans who supported their team so admirably throughout and, as you can hear, even after the match...

  6. Hull promoted to Premier League

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Steve Bruce

So, Steve Bruce's Hull City are the winners of the most lucrative game in the history of domestic English football so far, thanks to Mohamed Diame's 10th goal of the season.

The Senegal international, fed by Robert Snodgrass, struck a sweet strike in the 72nd minute to secure an immediate return to the Premier League for the Tigers.

Sheffield Wednesday battled away but could not find a way through and will now spend a 17th year outside the top flight.

Thanks for your company - I now hand you over to Olly Wright for more reaction.

  9. Hull promoted to Premier League

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Not a bad day for Hull, all round.

While Hull City were winning promotion back to the Premier League, Hull FC were going back to the top of rugby league's Super League with a 32-24 home win over St Helens.

It'll be a happy night in East Yorkshire, that's for sure.

  10. Hull promoted to Premier League

  12. Hull promoted to Premier League

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Phil Cartwright

    BBC Sport

"The last three Championship play-off finals have been won by teams that have bounced straight back to the Premier League: QPR in 2014, Norwich in 2015 and now Hull."

  13. Hull promoted to Premier League

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Hull midfielder Jake Livermore tells Sky Sports: "It's been a long, long season. We had a dip in form at the wrong time and thankfully we bounced back.

"It's a special day for everyone.

"We want to go to all the big clubs. We're just happy to be in the top flight and give something back to these fans."

  14. Hull promoted to Premier League

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Next season will be the 150th in the history of Sheffield Wednesday - but sadly for them they'll be spending it in the second tier.

But this campaign was surely their most promising since relegation from the top flight in 2000, so their fans will eventually take heart from a year of vast improvement.

A big cheer is reserved for match-winner Mohamed Diame, who lifts the trophy with glee. His fierce strike was enough for the Tigers to win promotion, in a tight game.
