  2. National Coal Mining Museum enjoys record visitor numbers

    The National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield has recorded the highest number of visitors since it opened nearly 30 years ago

    The museum, at the former Caphouse Colliery in Crofton, saw more than 138,000 people visit last year.

    It says it's also benefited from an increase in donations.

  3. Watch: Yorkshire team in Himalayas research to improve military performance

    A team of military staff from Yorkshire are in the Himalayas climbing some of the world's highest mountains in the so-called "death zone". 

    It's part of research by Leeds Beckett University to improve military performance.

    Dealing with terrorists who base themselves at high altitude can cause problems for soldiers, this research aims to help with that.

  6. Armed robbery at bookies in Sheffield: Can you help?

    Police in Sheffield are searching for a robber who stole money from a betting shop. 

    Just before 18:00 last Saturday evening, a man, believed to have been carrying a handgun, walked into Corbett bookmakers on Stannington Road. 

    He left the premises on an orange off-road type motorbike in the direction of Hillsborough.

  7. Man and boy bailed in Balby murder investigation

    A 17-year-old boy and a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a man at his home in Doncaster have been released on bail.

    Christopher Cumpsty, 43, was found dead at the house in Cross Street, Balby at about 04:30 on 11 March.

    A post-mortem examination revealed he died from multiple injuries.

  8. A real South Yorkshire welcome home for Masters golf champion

    Danny Willett has arrived back at his home club, Lindrick Golf Club in Worksop, to the delight of his family.

    Danny claimed a shock Masters win with a superb five-under-par 67 as 2015 champion Jordan Spieth crumbled during a thrilling final round on Sunday.

  11. Doncaster gets cycle-ready ahead of Tour de Yorkshire

    Ahead of the Tour de Yorkshire coming to Doncaster in a few weeks, a new cycle hub has been opened in the town.

    Funded by Sport England and delivered by Cycle Yorkshire, there are four new hubs across Yorkshire. 

    Cycle Yorkshire hope they're a further step towards a countywide cycling legacy for all generations and abilities.

  12. Dangerous dogs in Yorkshire: Sheffield man speaks of his attack

    Police forces across Yorkshire have seized 644 dogs, all suspected to be banned breeds, in just three years. It's part of a much bigger problem nationally.

  13. Calls for businesses in Yorkshire to support gambling addicts

    Sixteen per cent of people in Yorkshire know someone whose gambling problems have affected their work - the highest rate in England. 

    The research by Reed in Partnership is revealed in a new report into the effects of gambling on people's work

    More than a quarter of working adults in our region say they'd like to hide their gambling from work colleagues. 

    The report calls for businesses to take more action to support staff.

  14. Massage therapy works for lame giraffe at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    An 11-year-old giraffe at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster has been receiving treatments more commonly given to racehorses to help with age-related aches and pains.

    Rangers noticed Behanisin was slightly lame on his left foreleg and had a sore shoulder. 

    He's been receiving laser therapy and treatments from a pulse massage machine from equine chiropractors. 

    Staff at the park say the giraffe is responding well to the therapy.

  15. BreakingGleadless Valley stab death: Victim named by police

    A 22-year-old woman who died after being stabbed in Sheffield yesterday has been named by police.

    Leigh-Anne Mahachi was stabbed in Spotswood Close, Gleadless Valley, at about 08:15 yesterday. She was taken to hospital, but died a short time later.

    A post-mortem examination was carried out last night which found she had died as a result of multiple stab wounds.  

    A 37-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being interviewed by detectives.

    As part of one of the biggest art projects seen in Sheffield this year, BBC Radio Sheffield is giving you the opportunity to design an elephant for the radio station.

    Your elephant could then be part of a sculpture trail of painted elephants dotted around Sheffield city centre.
