  8. Council on standby for more floods

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

The leader of Notts County Council said they're doing all they can to help flood-hit areas.

Quote Message: Along with the rest of the country we are currently experiencing highly unusual levels of rainfall for the time of year, much of it coming down very quickly within a very short space of time and putting a lot of pressure on drainage systems. Villages such as Gotham and East Leake have been particularly affected and our highways teams have been out, checking that gulleys are clear and lifting inspection covers to help water drain away more quickly. With more rain forecast we continue to be on stand-by and will be working with the emergency services where necessary and other organisations within the county to respond to flood emergencies and support local communities that may be affected." from Alan Rhodes Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council
