    A grey start to Thursday with fog patches clearing then fine with sunny spells, although cloud and rain will spread from the west towards the end of the afternoon and into the evening. Maximum temperature of about 17C (63F). Light or moderate southwest wind.   

  4. Burberry annual profits have fallen by 10%

    The luxury fashion firm Burberry, which has factories in Castleford and Keighley, says it's annual profits have fallen by 10%.

    Retail analysists say this because of falling sales in China's wealthy regions of Hong Kong and Macao. 

    The company has unveiled details of a cost-cutting programme, but it's shares have fallen by about 3%.

  6. BreakingDeal on junior doctor contract 'agreed'

    A deal has been agreed in the long-running dispute over a new junior doctors' contract in England.

    Government negotiators and the British Medical Association leadership have reached an agreement after eight days of talks at conciliation service Acas.

    The offer will now be put to a referendum of BMA members.

  9. Lightcliffe headteacher admits online child sex charges

    A former primary school headteacher has admitted causing two 11-year-old girls to engage in online sexual activity.

    David Warbrick 51, pleaded guilty to offences against the two victims, who are both from Derbyshire, at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday.

    He was suspended as head of All Saints Junior and Infants School, in Halifax, and Gomersal Primary School, Cleckheaton, after his arrest in 2015.

  10. Free Dewsbury market stalls for young entrepeneurs

    Kirklees Council is offering young people the chance to run a stall on Dewsbury Market for a day for free.

    It's to encourage a new wave of entrepreneurs and to show the younger generation that they can work for themselves. 

    Lucy Bye, an enterprise project manager at Kirklees Council, says the start up scheme is about creating a new generation of stall holders.

  11. Inspector made ‘mistake’ of not speaking to pupils in emergency inspection of Batley school

    Huddersfield Town have parted company with academy chief Mark Lillis.

    Lillis, 56, who has also served the club as player, youth-team coach and caretaker manager, departs after four and a half years in the post. During that time he helped Town gain prized category two academy status under the Elite Player Performance Plan.

    The family of a former rugby league star who has been diagnosed with dementia say the level of care and support provided by the state has left them feeling abandoned. 

    John Atkinson was a Challenge Cup winner with Leeds in the 1960s and 70s but Alzheimer's disease has now left him unable to carry out everyday tasks.

  14. Ryder Cup replica expected to fetch big money at golf auction

    The 2001 replica Ryder Cup awarded to West Yorkshire golfer Howard Clark in honour of his six appearances in the famous competition is up for auction today.

    It's part of the Bonhams Sporting Sale in Edinburgh and has an estimate of up to £9,000. 

    Clark, who's from Leeds, first appeared in the Ryder Cup in 1977 and went on to win three and draw one during the 1980s in the competition which is held between the best European and American golfers.

  16. Watch: Dewsbury man in two year fight to get a neighbour's fence removed

    A two year fight to get a neighbour's fence removed could soon be over for one man in Earlsheaton near Dewsbury. 

    Gary Flowers has spent over £2,500 in the last two years campaigning to get it torn-down, claiming it's a safety risk on the busy Wakefield Road.

    Kirklees Council has now confirmed that the compliance period for removing the fence has expired. 

    It says officials will consider prosecution if it's not removed.

  17. Clifford Amoh death: Two more teens charged with murder

    More now on the news that two more teenagers have been charged with murder and robbery after a man was attacked at his home in Leeds.

    Clifford Amoh, 29, died from a head injury after he was assaulted in Coldcotes Crescent, Gipton, on 7 May.

    Johari Green, 19, of Amberton Crescent, Leeds, and Rowan Lewis, 18, of Cowper Grove, Leeds, are both due before the city's magistrates later.

    A grey and damp afternoon across West Yorkshire, with outbreaks of rain and cloudy conditions. A little more in the way of brightness later, the clouds thinning and breaking at times to allow for some sunny spells. Further showers are forecast, some of these heavy.

    This evening the rain band clears overnight and things turn dry. Temperature lows of 9C (48F).
