  3. Weather: Mainly dry with some warm sunny spells on Tuesday

    Any early evening showers will clear quickly to leave a dry night for all parts with a few mist patches forming in rural parts. The winds will remain light and variable and it will be mild. Lows of 13C (55F).

    Tomorrow will be a largely dry day with a fair amount of cloud, but also with some sunny spells. In the sunshine and light winds it will be warm.

  4. Police hunt for men armed with machete and baseball bat

    Police are appealing for witnesses after two men armed with a machete and baseball bat forced their way into a house in Oxford. 

    The "frightening incident" happened last Tuesday at about 23:20 in James Street, Cowley.

    A man who was inside the home managed to disarm the men, who fled the scene, but was injured in the process.

    David Cameron has been at the BMW plant in Oxford today on the EU referendum campaign trail. 

    He visited two firms involved in the supply chain for the Mini's doors before helping to assemble the finished product at the plant in Cowley.

    First-time home buyers in Oxfordshire are being priced out of a government scheme designed to help them, a BBC investigation has found

    The government introduced its Help To Buy ISA scheme in December, but it's not as useful in this part of the country as elsewhere.

    The average price of a two-bedroom home in the county is £303,000 - well above the £250,000 cap on prices for the scheme.

    Anne-Marie Cockburn's 15-year-old daughter Martha died when she accidentally overdosed on ecstasy in an Oxford park.

    The website moneysavingexpert.com has written a guide showing how easily drivers can fall into the trap of paying tickets from private operators when they don't necessarily have to.

  13. Driven to distraction by parking tickets

    Parking operators are being over-zealous when it comes to issuing tickets at a car park in Didcot, according to a number of people who've taken to social media to express their frustration.

    Many feel they've been unfairly fined at the Premier Parking Solutions run car-park opposite the railway station.

    We asked Premier Parking Solutions to comment, but have not heard back from them. 

  14. Oxfordshire teen first in Britain to be fitted with satellite tracking tag

    Thames Valley Police claims it's become the first force in the country to put a satellite tag on a child.

    Unlike traditional tags, the new devices track the offender's movement at all times.

    The force confirmed it's used one of these tags on a 15-year-old who's been convicted of a series of offences - including burglary, robbery, threatening a 14-year-old girl in Oxford and brandishing an imitation firearm in the street in Didcot.

    He'll have to wear the tag at all times, for six months.

  15. Travel latest: Flooding closes M40 slip road

    The M40 entry slip road is closed southbound at J8a for Oxford because of flooding.

    Meanwhile, one lane is blocked on the A34 northbound in Abingdon at Marcham Interchange, because of two broken-down vehicles.
