  4. Listen: 'I felt bullied and isolated' - Former Lord Mayor of York on her time in office

The former Lord Mayor of York has told BBC Radio York she felt "isolated and bullied" during her time in office, but says she doesn't regret the way she handled controversial headlines about her.

Sonja Crisp made the national papers after she sent emails complaining about work being carried out in her official residence and the state of her gold chains and silverware.

Ms Crisp, who has just completed her year as Lord Mayor of York, has told BBC Radio York's Jonathan Cowap she was "portrayed as a petulant child".

Quote Message: Every year there's a new Lord Mayor and it's the office that's important and the continuation of the office. To me there was a clear dismissal of the importance of that office during that year." from Sonja Crisp Former Lord Mayor of York

The BBC offered the City of York Council an opportunity to respond to the former Lord Mayor's comments, but the council has declined.

  5. BBC Weather Watchers take a stretch on the beach

    BBC Weather Watchers

You'd be forgiven for thinking the beautiful bay pictured below, stretching its way around the glorious aerial architecture of Linton's clouds, was one bit of beach - but it's actually two!

The bay on the left is Ravenscar and the one on the right is Whitby.

    Weather Watcher pics

Thanks to BBC Weather Watcher Bay Boy, for a resplendent Ravenscar and to Stephen RBP for a wonderful Whitby.

And that's not forgetting Jess's Reserve for sending in her picture of Linton, which acts as a fine filling in our scenic sandwich.

  11. Things returning to normal after Selby toll bridge traffic 'chaos'

    BBC Radio York

BBC Radio York's travel team have just let us know the earlier problems with the Selby toll bridge which caused "chaos" this morning were actually down to a traffic light stuck on red.

    Selby toll bridge

We'd originally been told it was due to the swing bridge being stuck in the "open" position.

Nick Robins, from the BBC travel team, says he's assured things are "now returning to normal in the area."

  12. North Yorkshire school's victory in world's largest football tournament for 10-12 year olds

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

If you were somewhat vexed by England's failure to score against Slovakia last night, you might take solace in the extraordinary achievements of a North Yorkshire team.

Yes, the real footy stars of the moment have been right under our noses...

National Champions Captain, Olly Stables, and Midfielder, Josh Falk,

The team, from Barkston Ash Catholic Primary School, near Tadcaster, are so good they're getting an open top bus tour to celebrate becoming National Champions in the small schools category of the English Schools' Football Association Nations Cup.

I've just met the team and will show you a film I took of them later.

Meanwhile, enjoy these pics of their victory transport and National Champions captain Olly Stables and midfielder Josh Falk with their hard-earned trophy.

  13. Three-day closure of York Minster in July is no mystery

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

York Minster will close for three days in July following its conversion into a huge theatrical space for the staging of the York Mystery Plays over the past month.

Crews need to strip out 60 tonnes of lighting, sound and stage equipment and remove the 1,000-seater auditorium, used for the staging of plays.

    York Minster

The centuries-old series of plays, currently being performed by amateur actors, returned to York Minster in May for the first time in 16 years.

In a statement, the Minster says: "The Chapter House, North Transept and Lady Chapel which is serving as make-up, cast dressing room, props and costume storage, will be returned to normal as equipment is packed up and removed to storage."

The Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe, will be closed from Monday 4 until Wednesday 6 July.

  14. Headlines: Location of 10,000 new homes to be built in York revealed, Jo Cox charity fund passes £1m and school wins national football championships

  15. Moon marvel: Strawberry Moon on summer solstice - first since 1967

    Jonathan Cowap

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

I was outside last night enjoying the long light of the solstice and playing about with my new camera and I managed to snap this pic of the Strawberry Moon.

Apparently a full moon in June is called a Strawberry Moon because it marks the start of the strawberry season.

    Strawberry moon

I'm told 2016 is a special year, because the solstice coincides with the Strawberry Moon, the first time in almost 50 years this has happened.

Incredible really that a cheap camera is good enough to photograph the craters on the moon - it's 250,000 miles away!

  16. 'Chaos' in Selby due to Toll Bridge problems

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

There are currently big problems for drivers in the Selby area, we're hearing.

The A19 Selby toll bridge is currently closed due to the fact the swing bridge is stuck in the "open" position.

On top of the partial closure of the A63 Selby Bypass, this means major delays and queuing traffic in both directions between the Ousegate junction and the Pond Street junction.

BBC Radio York's been told that it's currently "chaos" in the area, so it sounds like it might be best avoided for the moment.

  17. Charity fund in memory of Yorkshire MP Jo Cox passes £1m mark

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

The husband of West Yorkshire Labour MP Jo Cox, who was killed on Thursday, has thanked people who've donated to a charitable fund set up in her memory

The total's now reached more than £1m which will be split between causes she supported.

    Jo Cox

Meanwhile, more than 26,000 people have signed a petition calling for the pensioner who tried to intervene in the attack to be given a bravery award.

    Bernard Kenny

Bernard Kenny, 77, was stabbed in the stomach as he came to the aid of the MP. He's now been discharged from hospital.
