There will be a dry and sunny start for Friday, before clouds start to build. However isolated showers may develop - most likely in the west. 

It will be a better day than today, with warm sunshine and most places remaining dry.

  Here are your top stories this evening:   

• There are major problems on the roads this afternoon after a lorry crashed through the central reservation of the M40 earlier
• Multi-million pound plans to protect homes in Oxford from flooding - have been submitted to the City Council 
• The parents of alleged Oxford ISIS fighter Jack Letts will stand trial in January, accused of sending him money  

Police have sent out an appeal for witnesses after a robbery in Cowley Road on Saturday.  

• The A420 has reopened in time for the rush hour after an earlier accident between the Watchfield bypass and Faringdon
• There are still huge delays on the M40 between J8 for Oxford and J4 for High Wycombe 
• A40 north of Stokenchurch is also very busy as a direct effect of the M40

Thunder and lightning, trees down, torrential rain. The sort of weather you'd expect in the middle of winter, not midsummer. But last night's storms left a trail of problems in their wake across Oxfordshire and South East England..

A lorry carrying frozen offal has crossed over the central reservation and overturned on the M40 southbound before J6 B4009.

All southbound traffic was stopped earlier, but lane one (of three) is back open. 

As voters head to the polling stations for the EU referendum so have some dogs - although cats and even a political polecat have been keen to get in on the act.

Three new Assistant Chief Constables are now in post at Thames Valley Police following their appointment in April.  

Dave Hardcastle has taken up his new role as Assistant Chief Constable Operations, Nikki Ross is the Assistant Chief Constable Local Policing and Jason Hogg is the new Assistant Chief Constable for Crime and Criminal Justice.

• A lightning strike - at a food waste plant near Wallingford - has caused a quarter of a million pounds worth of damage to it's roof
• A man has been spotted holding - what looks like - a knife outside a convenience store in Didcot

• The M40 is currently blocked with severe delays and stationary traffic southbound before J6, B4009 (Watlington), because of an overturned lorry 
• Two lanes are also closed on the northbound strip with traffic queuing for six miles
