More dogs are stolen in West Yorkshire than almost any where else in the country. 

More than 5,000 dogs have been reported stolen to police forces in England and Wales since the start of 2013 - with 450 thefts in West Yorkshire alone - Sky is one of those dogs.

Multimillion-pound repairs to a flood-hit bridge have been approved by senior councillors.

Linton Bridge, over the River Wharfe in West Yorkshire, was damaged in the Christmas floods.

Emergency work has been undertaken but the cracked bridge between Linton and Collingham remains at risk of collapse, said Leeds City Council.

Work, which will cost £4.5m, is to start in July to put in place a river platform to work on the foundations.

One lane closed on the westbound M62 between J28, A650 (Tingley) and J27, M621 (Gildersome), because of an accident.

President Barack Obama has paid tribute to Jo Cox MP, saying she believed in “the power of people to bring about change.”

In a Facebook message Mr Obama hailed the mother-of-two, who volunteered for his 2008 presidential campaign, for her work for those close to home in her Batley and Spen constituency and further afield.

A vicar urged everyone remembering Jo Cox to "pledge ourselves to a better world" as he led a memorial ceremony just a few yards away from where she was killed.

People gathered in the market square in Birstall to mark the exact time a week ago that the Batley and Spen MP was attacked. 

More than 100 people ringed the makeshift memorial for moments of silence, hymns and eulogies led by the vicar of St Peter's Church, the Reverend Paul Knight.

An exhibition of photos showing a tiger that lived in Holmfirth during the 1940s have gone on display this week as part of the town's arts festival. 

Fenella the tiger came to Holmfirth at the outbreak of the Second World War after her owners, the Overend family, left South Africa. 

She became well known in the area and was often walked around on a lead!

A vigil has been held in Birstall, exactly a week after West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox was killed.

The Batley and Spen Labour MP and mother-of-two was shot and stabbed outside her constituency surgery in Birstall last Thursday.

Local residents came together to link hands from the time she was attacked last Thursday to the time she died.
