  3. Weather: Mostly dry overnight

    A few showers, and perhaps some longer spells of rain will continue into this evening, before clearing through the first half of the night. Turning drier with some clear spells by dawn, allowing some mist patches to develop. Lows of 10C (50F) 

    It'll be a dry start with some brighter spells. However turning breezy, with mostly light rain spreading east by the afternoon.

  4. Police appeal after assault in Banbury

    Police are investigating an assault at a set of traffic lights by Karcher House in Banbury at about 12:30 on Sunday.

    A 51-year-old man got out of his car to speak to the driver of another vehicle. A third car pulled up, the driver got out and hit him. 

    The man suffered a broken nose and a fractured cheek.

  5. 999 staff at risk of mental health problems spotted in first week of training

    Emergency services workers who are more likely to suffer episodes of mental ill health later in their careers can be spotted in the first week of training, Oxford University researchers say.

    They studied 400 new ambulance staff through training, and found those who had a lower resilience to trauma and stress were more likely to experience PTSD and depression.

    Those who are more at risk can be offered training to improve their mental resilience, they added.

  6. Steady flow of interest in Oxford flood relief plan

    Plenty of interest in the £120 million plans for a new flood relief channel in Oxford, which have been unveiled today.

    Details of the scheme, which will need planning permission before construction can begin, are on public display at The Assembly Room, Oxford Town Hall until 20:00.

  7. Helium discovery a 'game-changer', say Oxford scientists

    Scientists have discovered a large helium gas field in Tanzania.

    With world supplies running out, the find is a "game-changer", say geologists at Durham and Oxford universities.

    Helium is used in hospitals in MRI scanners as well as in spacecraft, telescopes and radiation monitors.

  9. Appeal after woman is racially abused in Didcot

    Police in Didcot are appealing for witnesses after a woman was racially abused in the town yesterday.

    They say a man aged in his 60s shouted abuse at her as she was driving towards lower Broadway at about 12:10.

    He's described as white, with short grey hair and is about 6ft tall. He was wearing black jogging bottoms, black shoes and a dark blue jacket.

  11. Oxford University company rebrands away from 'Isis'

    An Oxford University company has changed its name from Isis Innovation after being linked with the so-called Islamic State group.

    Oxford University Innovations supports researchers, staff and students to turn their work into commercial enterprises - with five new spin-off companies raising £38 million in funding in the last month.

    It changed its nameto make a "clearer definition of the link to the university" but added its former name had "caused occasional business issues such as emails being blocked".

    Police in Didcot are appealing for witnesses after a woman was racially abused yesterday by a man in his 60s.
