St Albans collision: Woman, 80, dies

It's been confirmed by police that an elderly woman died after a collision in St Albans today, which we reported earlier.
Officers say the "circumstances of the collision are unclear" but it seems that a delivery lorry was leaving the service road by Tesco Express at Twyford Road in Jersey Farm when "it collided" with the 80-year-old woman.
The woman died as a result of the injuries she sustained. Any witnesses are asked to contact police via the 101 number.
'Sorry for wasting your time', woman writes to police
A woman has written to Bedfordshire Police to say she is "eternally grateful" for their support on a night out.
Officers had gone to help the woman in May after they received reports of an intoxicated person lying in the road.
She wrote to them to apologise and will be making a donation to the Care of Policing Survivors charity.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who made 10 appearances during a loan spell with the Hatters last season, has agreed a two-year deal at Kenilworth Road.
A Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, Rea came through Albion's academy and featured twice for the Seagulls in the League Cup.

The closure of Stratton Bridge prompted complaints from local shopkeepers who say they have lost thousands of pounds in business while the road has been closed.
The bridge needed major repairs and was due to reopen in April after closing in November but bad weather forced a longer closure.

An elderly woman has been flown to hospital by air ambulance after been knocked down in St Albans.
The woman, who's 80 years old, was hit by a delivery van on Twyford Road in Jersey Farm.

Two brothers accused of helping to hide the body of a woman in Luton will stand trial in December.
Natalia Doherty, 50, also known as Natalia Wilkanowska, vanished in 2003 and her remains were found buried in the garden of a house in Icknield Way last year.

Today Joseph Doherty, 72, of Port Glasgow and Daniel Doherty, 67, appeared at Luton Crown Court, accused of concealing her body in the back garden of Daniel Doherty's house.
Both men were granted bail.
Missing Borehamwood man, 81, last seen on Friday

Hertfordshire Police say Mr Dunne was last seen at his home in Brook Road at about 22:30 on Friday.
Officers are concerned as he has been "without his medication for some time" and is a "vulnerable older man".
They say he's 6ft 1in tall (1.85m), usually wears a cap and speaks with a London accent.
Man arrested after girl, 12, sexually assaulted
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in Hitchin on Friday.

Police say that the sexual assault was reported to them and is alleged to have happened between 16:00 and 16:30 in woods opposite Watersmeet off Grove Road.
Officers are keen to speak to dog-walkers who may have seen the girl, including a man walking a small brown dog that the girl stopped to pet.

Burnham man arrested over explosive chemicals
A man has been arrested in Buckinghamshire on suspicion of possession of an explosive with intent to endanger life and property.
Officers were called to an address in The Fairway in Burnham just before 06:00 on Saturday, where they discovered a number of chemicals.
Residents of nearby properties were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
