  2. Shaggy has recorded '200' songs for new album

    Reggae star Shaggy claims he has recorded around 200 songs ahead of the release of his 13th studio album.

    Speaking to iHeartRadio in New York, he said: "I think the hardest part is going to be trying to pick what we're gonna go with. We've narrowed down the first two singles, but you're talking about us doing almost 200 songs. It's a lot of music."

    His last album was three years ago and it has been 21 years since his biggest hit Boombastic, which he said still gets him recognition today.

    "You know where you were listening to Boombastic, you're saying 'Oh I remember where I was at that time.' I get it so many times where people come up to me, so we still want to continue that tradition as far as the music is concerned."

  3. Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello charity single

    Last year she teamed up with Shawn Mendes and now Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello has recorded another song away from the rest of the group.

    This time it's a charity single with children's arts charity OMG Everywhere.

    They didn't use any traditional musical instruments and Camilla helped create the sounds in the track using everyday objects like drinking straws and empty bottles.

  4. Celebrating 60 years of the album chart

    It's the 60th anniversary of the official album chart this summer and it's just been announced there will be a special celebrations on TV, radio and online to mark it. 

    Frank Sinatra’s Songs For Swingin’ Lovers became Britain’s first ever number one album when it was published in Record Mirror on 22 July 1956. 

    To celebrate starting in early July, the Official Charts Company will reveal the 60 biggest selling albums of all time. 

    And BBC Radio 2 and MTV will have special programmes to celebrate the chart. 

    Steve Wright will present a special August Bank Holiday Monday celebration.

    And MTV will unveil the biggest selling albums of the MTV years to be shown on MTV Classics on July 4.  

  5. Demi Lovato didn't think she's make it to 21

    In a new interview talking about her mental health and alcohol and drug issues,  singer Demi Lovato has revealed she didn't think she's make it to the age of 21.  

    "I lived fast and I was going to die young," she told American Way magazine.

    When asked whether she thought she’d be alive at 40, she said: "I didn’t think I would make it to 21."

    She spoke about her battle with bulimia and bipolar disorder and how she has become one America’s leading celebrity advocate for the mentally ill.    

    "The more you talk about mental illness, the less of a taboo it becomes," Lovato said. "As a pop star, I can say, ‘Hey, I’ve got bipolar disorder — it’s nothing that anyone can be ashamed of.’ "

  6. Jeff Lynne's ELO sales milestone

    Jeff Lynne's ELO are also feeling the post Glastonbury love. 

    After their Sunday legends slot at the weekend, Electric Light Orchestra's greatest hits album All Over The World has hit a sales milestone - passing one million copies. 

    It's taken a while to get there, as it's a full 11 years after it was first released. 

    It entered the chart in 2005 at number 11 before climbing to six. 

    It was re-released in 2011 and again earlier this month, entering in the top five.

    It has spent 112 weeks in the top 100 albums.  

  7. White Lies return with a new single

    It's been three years since we last heard from White Lies and now they have returned with the insanely, catchy upbeat Take It Out On Me and its 80s summer synth vibe.

    It's taken from their forthcoming album Friends.

    Speaking to The Line of Best Fit, bass player Charles Cave said the themes of the album came from watching friends' "marriages, kids, moving out of London".

    "Friendships have begun to feel adult and our perception of time has changed," he said. "As kids, if you didn’t see a mate for a fortnight, you’d wonder what was wrong. Now you might not see someone for six months and it doesn’t matter."

  8. Adele feels the post Glastonbury love

    Adele is feeling the afterglow of all that Glastonbury love as all her albums have started shooting back up the chart. 

    The midweek chart shows 25 has leapt 13 places back to number one, with sales increasing 176% from last week. 

    If she holds that spot, it will be the 13th week 25 has spent at number one. 

    Meanwhile her previous album 21 has jumped 58 places to nine and and her debut album 19 is currently at 13, which is the first time it's been in the top 40 in six months. 

    Seriously, does anyone now NOT own an Adele album?

  9. Neneh Cherry's daughter Mabel is Annie Mac's hottest record

    At the age of 20, Mabel is already making serious waves in the UK music industry. The daughter of 80s pop star Neneh Cherry, she played her first Glastonbury this weekend past and supported Years & Years on tour.

    Oh, and her new single Thinking of You was Annie's hottest record last night.

  10. Suge Knight sues Chris Brown

    Suge Knight is suing Chris Brown and the owners of a club over a party held there in 2014 in which he was shot seven times. 

    He's accusing them of failing to have adequate security and allowing at least one armed person into the venue during the party.  

    The Death Row Records co-founder has cited complications from the attack in his defence over a fatal hit and run for which he's currently in jail awaiting trial for. 

    Suge's attorney's say fear after the shooting led him to flee when he was attacked in his car, running down two men and killing one.

    In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, he is calling for Brown and the 1 Oak club to pay past and future medical expenses for his injuries.

    Brown has not yet responded to the lawsuit.

  11. Bjork live at midday in world first

    Bjork is pushing the boundaries again. 

    At midday, she will be performing her track Quicksand live in the world's first 360-degree Virtual Reality live stream from Mirakan (the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in Tokyo. 

    The performance will open Björk’s virtual streaming project Björk Digital – Music and Virtual Reality – an 18 day Experiment at the museum.

  13. Calvin Harris 'sorry' for rant against paparazzi photographer

    Calvin Harris has apologised on Twitter for a rant against a paparazzi photographer. 

    It came after he reversed his car door into a wall trying to get away from photographers in LA. 

    It happened the same day more pictures of his ex Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston hit the papers with them walking on the beach in England with Tom's mum.

  14. Lady Gaga criticised in China for Dalai Lama meeting

    A meeting between Lady Gaga and Tibetan spirtitual leader the Dalai Lama has upset some of her Chinese fans. 

    Her social media posts about meeting with the 80-year-old have been met with outrage and have led to online speculation over whether she will still be allowed to perform in the country.

    Gaga is massive in China but many feel the Dalai Lama is a figurehead for Tibetan separatism.

    "She has not considered Chinese fans," said -GeorgeLee- on Weibo.

    While DIZzyF added "she has given up on the Chinese market" and Svaniscono7 accused her of causing controversy to stay relevant in a waning market. "The political depths this turtle will go to, to stay ashore," she said.

  15. Metronomy and Robyn unveil new (old) track

    Ahead of the release of their new album Summer 08 on 1 July, Metronomy have shared a new collaboration with Swedish pop pixie Robyn.

    Hang Me Out to Dry was premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. 

    According to Stereogum, the song dates back to 2011 and an early draft was recorded for their album The English Rivieria but didn't make the cut.

  16. Lena Dunham 'disturbed' by Kanye's Famous video

    Kanye West's Famous video has come under fire from Lena Dunham 

    She has called the video which features seemingly naked celebrities in bed together "disturbing". 

    In a post on Facebook she said the video also made her feel "unsafe and worried" for teenage girls.

    Shesaid Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Anna Wintour had been "reduced to a pair of waxy breasts".

    "Now I have to see the prone, unconscious, waxy bodies of famous women, twisted like they've been drugged and chucked aside at a rager? It gives me such a sickening sense of dis-ease."

  17. Dev Hynes streams new Blood Orange album early

    Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, has made his new album Freetown Sound available to stream three days early.

    The album’s title is named after Freetown, in Sierra Leone, the birthplace of Hynes’ father. 

    According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said: "I think of this record as [being] fully aware of, ‘Yeah, my life is in danger on a daily basis,’ but using that as strength to rise up and stand tall and be proud of who you are and accept who you are."

  18. Noel Gallagher "only tolerated" Liam "until he stopped being able to sing"

    Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher has given a damning new interview to the Toronto Star newspaper in which he is reported to have said that he "only tolerated" brother Liam "until he stopped being able to sing".

    Noel, who currently front his only High Flying Birds band spoke to the paper ahead of a  North American tour, which has a scheduled stopover in Toronto on 10 July.

    Responding to a question about some of Liam's recent tweets, mocking him, Noel answered: 

    Quote Message: I guess it was about him staying relevant. If you’re him, what else is there to tweet about? How his spring/summer collections are doing for his clothing firm? I’m not sure that warrants a tweet.

    He continued saying: "We’ve not been on speaking terms since 1996. I tolerated him up until he stopped being able to sing. When singing becomes shouting — I switched off then. I was just amassing money."

    The pair had a famously fractious relationship whilst in the band but still manage to talk to eachother long enough to have eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums.
