  3. Anti-Polish cards - reaction from you

    Mark Williamson

    BBC Local Live

More of you have been sending us your comments about the "Leave the EU - no more Polish vermin" cards posted to homes in Huntingdon.

Quote Message: I cannot believe that cards calling the Polish people 'Vermin' are being left on doorsteps. This is totally unjustified, racist and so 'Un-British'. I voted for exit as I do not want further integration into the EU. I did not vote for a hate campaign against other nationalities to be started by a few mindless individuals. Shame on you all." from Barrie Hamilton

Quote Message: I'm horrified and sickened by the cards found by people in Huntingdon... Some of the Polish migrants and workers in this country are probably the children and grandchildren of those brave Polish pilots who fought and died alongside British pilots in WW2 and helped us to win the Battle of Britain. Have they forgotten, or did they ever know this?" from Anon

Cambridgeshire County Council has issued a statement from its chairman Sebastian Kindersley about the anti-Polish cards sent to homes in Huntingdon.

"Those comments are about cruelty and have no place in our county, which prides itself on helping not hating.

"The best way we can all fight against fear and persecution is to carry on doing what Cambridgeshire does best - looking after one another," he added.
