A torquay taxi driver has had his licence suspended for three months and been ordered to go on an anger management course following an 'unprecedented' five complaints in four months about his conduct.

- On the A39 in Cornwall between the St Teath turn and the Camelford BP garage, traffic is blocked in both directions due to an overturned vehicle

- On the A361 in Devon one lane is blocked near the Landkey turn-off due to a broken down vehicle Barnstaple bound

Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter says he would not be surprised if backs coach Ali Hepher was linked with vacant head coach roles.

The former Northampton fly-half's work has been key to Exeter's rise in recent years, which culminated in a first Premiership final appearance in May and he also led England Saxons to a series win in South Africa this summer.

"If I was a coach or a CEO at another rugby club I'd certainly have a look at him," Baxter told BBC Sport.

The father of a teenager killed in a freak accident on a ski lift while on a school trip in the Alps says he hopes lessons have been learned from the incident.

Kieran Brookes, 14, from Bovey Tracey got stuck while trying to get off a lift and was strangled by his clothing.

Nick Brookes said progress had been made and people were safer but that "these accidents are still happening".

The company that operated it was acquitted last year of corporate manslaughter. An appeal court has just upheld that decision.

Exhausted volunteers searching for an escaped lynx, which is on the run from Dartmoor Zoo, have gone home before a further search this evening.

The volunteers were looking for the feline yesterday and overnight.

A spokesman from the zoo said the lynx is not a natural hunter and by now is probably very hungry. A human cordon will be formed again this evening in a bid to catch the cat.

Keepers have 25 humane traps dotted around the zoo boundary and in surrounding land and have now brought in two larger humane traps, which they believe will offer a better chance of catching the cat.  

A father has been jailed for eight years for a brutal attack on his six-week-old baby. William Coryn inflicted "catastrophic life-changing injuries" on the baby boy while his mother was at the dentist in March 2013.

The boy, now 3, is severely disabled and is expected to require full-time care for the rest of his life. Coryn, 32, from Praze An Beeble, Cornwall, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a week-long trial at Truro Crown Court.  

The television studio responsible for shows like Gogglebox and Undercover Boss, are to turn a book written by a police sergeant on the Isles of Scilly into a prime-time TV show, the This is Scilly website reports.

Studio Lambert optioned the rights to The Life of a Scilly Sergeant after a “hard-fought” auction between six publishers, The Bookseller reports.​

The author Sgt Colin Taylor will act as a consultant and executive producer.

Police have arrested three men in Exeter on suspicion of possessing and trying to supply Class A drugs.

Officers raided two flats in Kinnerton Way, Exeter, on Thursday evening, where they found a quantity of drugs believed to be Class A.

Two of the men are aged 20 and the third is aged 19. All three remain in police custody while investigations continue.

• Ken Allen - Orangutan - escaped from San Diego Zoo on multiple occasions in the 1980s
• The Tamworth Two, a couple of five month-old pigs, made a dash for it in 1998 
• Nikica the hippo enjoyed 10 days of freedom when her zoo was flooded in 2010
• Sylvester the lion went on a three-week killing spree when he escaped from a national park in 2015
• Chuva the macaw hid inside a family's motor home after he escaped from a zoo in 2009

The Canadian company aiming to reopen South Crofty tin mine in Cornwall has made progress on fund raising.

Strongbow Exploration says it has raised just over £1m to fund the early stages of its plan, which will involve buying the mine project near Redruth out of administration. 

The Canadians have been encouraged by the weakening of the pound, which means tin is now worth 15% more than it was in the spring.

Wadebridge soldier Steve Roberts died in Iraq after giving his body armour to a colleague. 

Work has begun to knock down the main tower of the Quality Hotel in Plymouth.

The 10-storey building is being demolished and the land prepared for developing a new, high-end hotel.

Plymouth City Council says the demolition is in response to a number of vandalism and arson incidents at the derelict site, which stands above the Hoe.

Other buildings at the former hotel site - including an office block, kitchen and reception rooms - have now been knocked down, with only a pile of ground rubble remaining, a spokesperson said.

Leader of the Council Ian Bowyer said: “This building has blighted our magnificent waterfront and I’m delighted that we will literally see the last of it in the next few weeks."

Former Plymouth Argyle and Yeovil Town manager Paul Sturrock is to help his local non-league club.

The ex-Scotland international has joined Plymouth Parkway of the South West Peninsula League as an advisor.

The 59-year-old parted company with Yeovil in December 2015 with the League Two club in the relegation zone.

A lynx that escaped from Dartmoor Zoo on Thursday is thought to have been filmed by a drone.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the first 32 seconds of the video below showed a "white thermal signature" believed to be the lynx.

A plan to charge people in Cornwall £80 for residents' parking permits 'will fail' because it is too expensive, according to a leading Cornwall Council member.

The council is considering introducing residents' permit schemes in towns around the county to help solve traffic problems.

In an email seen by the BBC, Rob Nolan, Mayor of Truro, said to members of the transport policy committee: "If we go ahead at £80, then the scheme will fail and an opportunity will have been missed and hundreds of thousands of pounds of consultants and officers time will have been wasted."

Plymouth Albion has re-signed front-row Tom Cowan-Dickie after a season at National Two South side Redruth.

The 25-year-old began his career at Exeter Chiefs and spent two seasons on dual-registration at the Brickfields before joining permanently in 2014 for a further campaign.

"I had a good season at Redruth but feel I have some unfinished business at Albion," Cowan-Dickie said.
