  3. Ryanair to increase flights from LBA by a fifth

    Ryanair is hoping its passenger numbers from Leeds Bradford Airport will increase by a fifth by next year.

    The airline's announced a new service to Girona near Barcelona - and says it'll bring in SUMMER flights to destinations it flies to in the winter including Warsaw and Gran Canaria.

  7. Postition closed for Yorkshire's Flood Envoy

    There is no longer a Government Flood Envoy for Yorkshire. 

    The Department for the Environment has confirmed that the post set up after the boxing day floods has been scrapped.

    In a statement Leeds West Labour MP Rachel Reeves says the Environment secretary must "get a grip", and "take the urgent action that is so desperately needed to protect our region from further flooding in the future."  

  8. Plans to streamline adoption services in West Yorkshire

    Plans to help make the adoption process in West Yorkshire quicker are expected to be approved by senior councillors in Bradford later.

    It's hoped changing the system will be better for children and their new families. 

    The idea is about merging adoption services in Bradford with those in the rest of West Yorkshire. If approved a regional service would be created, based in Leeds.

    Just a quick update on the swarm of bees that has shut down a resturant in Leeds for the afternoon.

    The beekeeper has turned up to deal with them, and it seems he's turned into a bit of a celebrity...

  10. West Yorkshire sees increse in criminal cases being dropped

    West Yorkshire has seen a rise in the number of dropped criminal cases due to lack of evidence.

    Our county is in the top ten of areas where the most cases have been abandoned. Nationally insufficient proof saw criminal proceedings against 52,288 people abandoned in 2014-15, compared with 38,132 in 2012-13.

    The charity Victim Support said dropping cases risked undermining people's confidence in the criminal justice system.  

    The figures included individuals who had been arrested and charged but where the CPS decided to drop proceedings before evidence was heard in court.

  12. Update: Swarm of Bees closes Leeds restaurant

    I was telling you about the swarm of bees that congregated on a central Leeds restaurant. 

    Well I've just called the manager there, he told me that they've shut for the day and that someone's on the way to deal with the bees.

    Some of Itsu's customers were trapped inside as the bees swarmed around the front. But as far as we know, no one was stung and all got out without incident.

  18. Cricket: Alex Lees sorry for remarks to Martin Saggers

    Yorkshire one-day captain Alex Lees has apologised after calling a decision by umpire Martin Saggers "terrible".  

    Lees' remark came after Saggers awarded a no ball for a breach of fielding regulations during a T20 Blast defeat by Nottinghamshire on Friday.
