  1. Goodbye: Five things we learnt today in York and North Yorkshire

    David Ward

    BBC Local Live, York

Thanks for being with us today, we'll be back at 07:00 on Tuesday.

In the meantime, let's look back at five of the main news stories of the day:

    1. Air accident investigators are examining why a helicopter with five people on board crashed at an airfield near Selby
    2. Tributes are being paid to a York primary school headteacher who's died suddenly
    3. A rise in the number of reported race hate crimes in Yorkshire since the Brexit vote is causing "real fear" among ethnic minorities
    4. Kirkbymoorside has what's probably its first ever world champion in teenage biker Jack Peace
    5. And Summer does really exist and isn't a myth as you might have thought so far this year!

See you tomorrow, when the sun, once again, is expected to have his hat on, just like in this photo of Burton Leonard, sent to us by BBC Weather Watcher Steelie76:

  2. Watch: 'Dream come true' for Kirkbymoorside world champ

    Sarah Urwin

    BBC Radio York News

More now on the teenage biker who is possibly Kirkbymoorside's first ever world champion.

Jack Peace, 16, has already been crowned the winner of the 125cc Trail Cup, despite the season not yet having come to an end.

He's told me that a little bit of sibling rivalry is helping to push him on.

  3. Watch: Goddards gardens set for 1927 makeover

    Sarah Urwin

    BBC Radio York News

On a day like this I'm just desperate to get out in the fresh air.

What better place to be than at one of York's beautiful National Trust propertieswhich is about to be returned to its original state.

Goddards, on Tadcaster Road, is the former home of Noel Terry, from the famous Terry's of York chocolate firm.

If you've ever been for a visit, you'll know the gardens are lovely. But they're about to get even nicer as they're returned to the original George Dillistone planting schemes of 1927.

I've been to find out what's planned...and what's already taken place:

  4. Hate incidents following EU poll creating 'real fear' in communities

    BBC News England

Racist abuse incidents since the Brexit vote have been creating "real fear" among ethnic minorities in Yorkshire, religious and community leaders have told the BBC.

    Graph

Data supplied to the BBC shows that over the last year, race hate crimes have gone up 13% in Yorkshire.

However, the data also showed that there was no strong link between the EU referendum vote and a rise in the number of racially motivated hate crimes being recorded.

For example, in June 2016, 472 race hate crimes were dealt with by forces in North, South and West Yorkshire - the same number as in March 2016, three months before the referendum was held.

  5. North Yorkshire's weather: A dry, warm and sunny afternoon

    Paul Hudson

    Weather presenter, BBC Look North

This afternoon will be mostly dry and very warm with spells of sunshine.

However, there will be just a small chance of a shower.

The top temperature will be about 27C (81F) with a light southwest wind.

  6. Listen: Brexit 'good for business' says North Yorkshire company

    Sarah Wakefield

    BBC Radio York News

In the wake of the EU referendum the pound may have taken a nose-dive, but not everyone is disappointed.

Allerton Steel, of Northallerton, which employs more than 100 people, has told BBC Radio York it's looking to take advantage of the situation.

The firm makes large-scale products including bridges, and structures for buildings and offshore facilities.

Sales director Paul Denning says the low value of the pound makes his products more appealing abroad:

  9. The sun has got his hat on: Perfect day for the beach

    David Ward

    BBC Local Live, York

I don't know about you, but I know I'd much rather be on the beach in Scarborough than stuck in the office.

This is the scene there this morning. This pic sent into us by BBC Weather Watcher Tomslad, who's lucky enough to be by the coast.

I guess with temperatures set to rise to the mid-20s that it may get a little busier as time goes by.
