    3. Been saving up for a nice hot foreign holiday? Forget it, come to Leeds like everyone else.
    4. Use the bus in Leeds? It's okay, you'll be able to use them next week!
    5. Just because you left the 80s behind, doesn't mean the 80s left you behind.

  3. Weather: Showers die out with a muggy night tonight

    Isolated heavy showers will die our for a dry night. Another muggy, warm night with lows of 16C (61F).

    Tomorrow it'll be mostly a dry and bright day with sunny spells and feeling warm. Just the odd isolated shower, and cloud tending to increase by evening. Highs of 24 (75F).

  6. Man to bury himself alive tonight

    Tonight a Halifax man will bury himself alive to raise awareness of the dangers of drug addiction. He'll be streaming the whole event on social media.

    John Edwards, 61, will be getting into a coffin at 20:00 tonight for three days to "bring people words of light from the grave", in a bid to reduce the number of addicts' funerals he has to attend.  

    He will receive food and water through a pipe and a second pipe will be connected to a caravan toilet, Mr Edwards told the BBC while standing in the grave as he was digging it.

  8. Search for motorcyclist who hit head and then left crash scene

    A motorcyclist who was in a crash with a minibus and then rode off is being sought by police.

    The crash happened yesterday just after 14:30 and the rider is thought to have come off the bike and hit their head on a green BT box.

    But despite his possible injuries, then left the scene of the accident, which happened at the junction of Broad Lane and Bell Lane in Bramley.

  9. Indefinite bus strike called off in Leeds

    After a meeting this lunchtime between the union representing bus drivers and First Leeds, it's emerged that an indefinite strike planned for Tuesday has been cancelled.

    The BBC understands that a slightly improved pay offer has been made and that Unite's members, the union representing Leeds bus drivers, will be balloted again in August.

    Today's meeting was the first time in weeks that the two sides have sat down for official talks over pay.

  11. Watch: Last journey for former soldier

    Today we've been telling you about the funeral of a soldier from Leeds, who died with no friends or family to attend his funeral. 

    After a social media campaign, hundreds turned out to give him a proper send off.

    So many people attended that there was no room in the chapel.

  12. Watch: Leeds flood prevention works from the air

    If you're interested in the Leeds Flood Prevention scheme or not, this video is well worth a look.

    It's been made by Leeds City Council and shows all the work that's going on to prevent future flooding around the city.

    But to be honest it's one of those videos that you can just waste time staring at with all the unusual views it provides!

  13. Bus strike time tables released

    Talks are continuing between bus drivers for First Leeds and the management, as a continuing strike is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. We'll let you know when there's an outcome from that.

    First Leeds have published a list of the affected bus services, so you can check if your journeys next week are going to be disrupted.

  14. Shop closed after 30 people throw bricks and bottles

    A shop in Leeds, which had become a centre of drug dealing, theft, assaults and anti-social behaviour has been closed by police for three months

    Trouble erupted at Wellington Stores, in Holdforth Place, Armley last Wednesday when 30 people hurled bricks and bottles at police officers.

    A "dispersal order" was put in place and a number of people were arrested. Three have been charged and are due to appear in court.

  15. Bradford City sign former Stuttgart Kickers goalkeeper

    Bradford have signed German goalkeeper Rouven Sattelmaier on a one-year contract after a trial period with the League One club.

    The 28-year-old has previously played for Regensburg, Heidenheim, and Bayern Munich's second team.

    He is the second goalkeeper to join Bradford this summer, after Colin Doyle was signed from Blackpool for £1.

  17. Hundreds attend funeral of soldier who outlived his family and friends

    There's been such a touching response to the death of a Leeds soldier who outlived his family and friends and faced having a funeral with no-one there.

    After a social media appeal, he has been given an amazing send off, with hundreds attending.

    Stewart Cooney was 95 and served with the Royal Artillery. He died in a care home in Leeds with no family.  

    There was no room inside the chapel so many had to watch the ceremony from outside on TV screens.

    Those attending included Territorial Army soldiers, a motorbike escort from the Royal British Legion Riders and the general public.  

    One organiser Martyn Simpson said: "We never let a brother go alone."
