Sexual offences increase in West Yorkshire
The number of sexual offences reported to West Yorkshire Police in the last year has increased by almost a third.

Figures also show an overall increase in crime in our county. 45,000 more crimes were reported to police in the year up to the end of March than in the same time the previous year.
That increase includes an additional 1,200 reports of sexual offences.

They're about to display a range of items that have been seized from smugglers including a ashtray, made from a crocodile. A croc-a-tray if you will.

The objects are part of a collection on long-term loan from HM Revenue and Customs, and were confiscated from their owners because they breached laws around importing animal products.
The items, including a mongoose being eaten by a snake, will be used to teach visitors about animal welfare. It opens next Friday.

Extra cash for cathedrals

Cyclist killed in Bingley named
A cyclist who died after an accident in Bingley on Tuesday has been named as Andrew Platten, who was 55 and from the town.

Virgin Trains East Coast is planning to axe up to 46 jobs at travel centres and train stations along the East Coast Main Line route, including Leeds and Wakefield according to a union.

A former drug addict has decided to bury himself alive in a large coffin in Halifax for three days to raise awareness of the dangers of addiction.
John Edwards is the founder of Walking Free, an online support group which helps people "walk free" from addiction.
He says that by doing something extraordinary he'll be taking a stand against senseless deaths by offering words of life from the grave.
