  4. Police find cannabis farm in Slathwaite

    Officers were called to an address in Slathwaite last night as local residents complained about the smell.

    On arrive at the property, rural officers found 200 plants at various states of growth, and confirmed this was cannabis.

    A man was also found in the address and was arrested.

    In a statement he said the party was divided and that more than 80% of Labour MPs no longer had any confidence in Jeremy's leadership.

  8. Councillors in Calderdale meet to decide how to spend extra £3m flood fund

    The best way to spend £3m of flood relief money will be discussed by Calderdale councillors at a meeting tonight.

    Parts of Mytholmroyd were flooded when the River Calder bursts its banks on Boxing Day

    It's six months since the Boxing Day floods devastated the area and almost 2,000 homes were flooded along with a thousand businesses. 

    Members will discuss proposals to allocate the money to several different schemes later.

  9. M62 closure: What you need to know for your drive home

    North West Motorway Police have re-opened the eastbound M62 at junction 21, following the fatal multi-vehicle accident earlier today. 

    However, the westbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for at least the next two hours.

    If you're heading towards Manchester diversions are in place. Westbound traffic is to follow the 'Solid Black Square' from J21 via the A6193, A664 and A627M roads.

    Highways England advise drivers to make extra time for their journeys.

  10. Man dies and 10 injured in M62 five-vehicle crash

    A man has died and 10 people have been injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the M62 near Rochdale.

    Police said a car had gone through the central reservation after colliding with a lorry and then crashed into traffic on the westbound carriageway.

    The car hit two more lorries and another car at junction 21 at Milnrow just after 09:30 BST.

    Police said the dead man was yet to be identified. A man and woman also suffered serious injuries.

  11. Morrisons bakery fire brought under control

    A blaze which destroyed a Morrisons supermarket bakery has been brought under control.

    Fire crews are still at the scene of the blaze, which gutted around 80% of the 86,000 sq ft (8,000 Sq m) building near Wakefield.

    Crews were also damping down at the site of a second fire which badly damaged a building housing heavy goods vehicles near Halifax.

  12. Sex worker killer convicted

    A man has been convicted of the murder of a Polish sex worker in a "sustained and forceful attack".

    Daria Pionko, 21, was found seriously injured in Springwell Road, Holbeck, Leeds on 23 December 2015 and died later in hospital. 

    Lewis Pierre, 24, of Meanwood, Leeds, who had admitted manslaughter and robbery but denied murder, will be sentenced on Tuesday.

  13. Motorway police hope to re-open eastbound M62 'soon'

    North West Motorway Police say they hope to re-open the eastbound M62 at junction 21 soon following a fatal multi-vehicle accident five hours ago.

    However, the westbound carriageway will remain closed.

  14. Alarm over rise in rough sleepers in Bradford city centre

  15. Major plans to tackle A629 traffic congestion between Huddersfield and Halifax

    Councillors in Calderdale are today expected to approve plans for changes to the notorious A629 between Huddersfield and Halifax. 

    The idea's to cut congestion at the Calder and Hebble junction and to improve access to Halifax Train Station. 

    Critics of plans to change Accident and Emergency services have often pointed to congestion on the A629 as a reason to keep A&E at both Huddersfield and Halifax.
