Have you ever heard of the "Maniac of Woodseats"? This is a real life story of a man who was jilted at the altar by his bride.

When he returned to his home, he tore a hole in the loft, climbed into it and vowed never to leave. His real name was Peter Raeney. 

Two hundred years later a musician stumbled across his story in a local magazine and now Andy Whitehouse from the band The Silver Darlings has been telling me about writing a song about it.

Concerns have been raised in parliament over the future of Bolsover community hospital, following a review of health services in Derbyshire.

In the Commons, the town's Labour MP Dennis Skinner - known as 'the beast of Bolsover' - asked the Prime Minister to help save the hospital using money that would be saved by Britain leaving the EU.

Cricketers in Sheffield are set to get a new roof over their heads and ground improvements to the field as part of a major new investment programme in Graves Park.

Vital building works on the roof of Graves Park cricket pavilion and major drainage works to the ground will mark the first stage of the park’s £200,000 new improvement programme, largely funded by the recent sale of the run-down Cobnar Cottage. 

Graves Park cricket pavilion, which was built in the 1960's, has desperately needed a new roof for several years.

Major changes to the route of the high speed two rail link through Yorkshire are thought to be under consideration. The BBC has learnt the line could take a very different path in South Yorkshire. A new report will be published by the company building the line tomorrow.

A Sheffield man who invented a board game 40 years ago is hoping to re-release it and re-ignite a board game culture in the city.

Well the people at Sheffield's Business Improvement District or BID want far more of us to stay in the city at night and they've launched a campaign to encourage us to do just that. It's called Alive after Five.

An inquest heard today into the death of Sheffield student Caroline Everest has recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Caroline who was 18 and from the Walkley area of the city was found dead in the Porter Brook river on the 22nd of November last year. She'd been on a night out at the Corporation nightclub. The coroner said alcohol and hypothermia played a part in her death.

Parents say they are appalled and have lost confidence in the head and leadership team at Wentworth Junior and Infants school in Rotherham after children's SATS results were nulled.

The Standards and Testing Agency held an investigation into year six tests at Wentworth Infant and Junior School and found pupils' answers had been changed.

Laser Credit Union in Rotherham is reassuring savers "'we are solvent" after access to their offices has been denied by landlords.

A notice has been posted on the door of the Laser Credit Union in Doncaster saying it is working on setting up an alternative premises.

Rotherham Council has moved to reassure savers with this statement:
