A Bradford teenager, who has been knocked out in the second round of Junior Wimbledon, says she will rise to the top, despite having a a rare condition.

She has only six fingers and three toes says and was born with Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia and faces issues with balance, and gripping her racquet.

More than £3m has been awarded to a pioneering project in Bradford, following the lives of thousands of babies.

Former Leeds Rhinos forward Jamie Peacock is the new England team manager.

He was capped 47 times by Great Britain and England, and will be working alongside new head coach Wayne Bennett for this year's Four Nations series. 

Peacock, 38, will join two other former Great Britain internationals, Denis Betts and Paul Wellens, on the England backroom staff.

Radio DJ Stephanie Hirst is to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Beckett University.

The transgender radio presenter is best known for her show 'Hirsty's Daily Dose' breakfast show on Galaxy Radio for 11 years, winning an armful of awards, as well as being an icon for the transgender community.

She will be awarded with the doctorate for her contribution to public life on 25 July.

You may not know it, but Leeds played a huge role in early cinema, and now a series of silent movie screenings will celebrate our links to the pioneers of film.

In fact, the world's first film was reputed to have been shot in Leeds. There's a plaque on Leeds Bridge if you look.

The Yorkshire Silent Film Festival will show more than 30 films featuring stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and Laurel and Hardy.

Organisers said the event would also mark the region's "special importance in the history of film".

Maureen Brewer from Wetherby (pictured) has just been awarded a British Empire Medal for her work in the community.

Work to avert a repeat of the flooding that hit Leeds during last Christmas is about to enter its next phase.

The Leeds Floods Alleviation Scheme includes movable weirs to control the level and flow of the River Aire.

The new work will see this weir being put in place at Crown Point.

The council warn that people living and working nearby might experience more noise than usual because of the heavy-duty engineering that needs to take place.

A man who chased off a burglar from the home of a 92-year-old woman is being asked to come forward. 

On Saturday morning in Wortley a man entered her house and stole items, even when he knew that the owner of the house had seen him.

The burglar grabbed some jewellery, but as he was leaving he was chased by a man who was described as white and wearing a hi-vis waistcoat.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Thousands of people across Yorkshire are marking the Muslim festival of Eid today, after 30 days of fasting for Ramadan. 

It is one of the biggest celebrations in the Islamic calendar. 

I've been to Bradford as many come together to break their fasts. 

A van has smashed into the front of a house in Halifax town centre. A police spokesperson said there was a crash between a Skoda Fabia and a white van at the junction of Prescott Street and Union Street at around 10:20 this morning.
