New head for Daventry's UTC after sudden departure of principal

A new principal has been appointed at Daventry's University Technical College (UTC) following the sudden departure of its principal.
David Edmondson had been in charge since the college opened in 2013, but it has recently been struggling with poor exam results and low pupil numbers. In a statement, the UTC says Mr Edmondson has left to "pursue new opportunities".

An interim principal, Russell Ball (pictured) has been appointed and is meeting parents this evening.
Last year, inspectors reported teaching was inadequate and the college required improvement. The college is only about a quarter full.
No Northamptonshrie non-league derby in Southern Premier League

This is a bit confusing, but stick with me...
Corby Town were relegated from Conference North last season and were due to return to the Northern Premier League.
However, due to another club, Cinderford Town, not wanting to go into the Southern Premier League - Corby were moved into that division, the same league as Kettering Town.
But then, one of the clubs affected by this, Evesham, appealed the decision to the FA and it has been overturned.
And so Corby Town are back in the Northern Premier League and Kettering remain in the Southern Premier.
Make sense? I hope so.
Police 'not where they want to be' on burglary, says new crime boss
The new police and crime commissioner for Northamptonshire, Stephen Mold, says all cases of burglaries "have to be attended within something like 48 hours".

The number of people being arrested for burglary has fallen by almost half in the last three years, despite the number of incidents remaining steady.
He said police are "heading in the right direction, but are not where they want to be yet".
Mr Mold, who was elected last month, said he wanted "more feedback" from victims.

Earlier today Northamptonshire police told us they were taking burglary seriously, despite the falling number of arrest for the crime.
One of those pictured performing illegal u-turns on the M1 at junction 18 was a driver for Reays Coaches. He has now been disqualified from professional driving for nine months.
Mark Ingleton, 35, of Westhaven, Thursby, had his professional driving licence revoked by the North West region’s deputy traffic commissioner, Simon Evans.
The industry regulator concluded Mr Ingleton had let himself, his passengers and his employer down and his "actions were not what the travelling public would expect from a professional driver".

Police keen to speak to people who knew murdered David Miller
The officer leading the investigation into the murder of David Miller said police are still keen to speak to anyway one who knew the 56-year-old.

Det Chief Insp Louise Hemmingway said she was "especially keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Patterdale Walk or Oasis House in Campbell Street, Northampton town centre, between Friday 10 June evening and Monday 13 June".
She also confirmed there would be a police presence at the Mr Miller's house, where he was found stabbed, for "some time".

The body of a man discovered at a property in Patterdale Walk, in the Boothville area of Northampton, yesterday has been named by police as 56-year-old David Miller, who lived at the address.
A post-mortem examination confirmed Mr Miller died as a result of stab wounds.

Five people remain in police custody as detectives continue to investigate the murder.
Three men from Northampton, aged 30, 49 and 57, and a woman from Northampton, aged 35, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
A 27-year-old woman, from Northampton, was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody.
