  1. Five things we learnt on Tuesday

    Thanks for being with us today - we will return for more news, sport, weather and travel from 08:00 tomorrow.

    So what have we learnt today? Well...

    1. A man from Halifax explains how he saved his wife's life, thanks to a pioneering hand transplant.  
    2. The lovely story of the woman suffering with dementia who wouldn't let go of  the police officer's hand who came to look after her.
    3. The former Batley Variety Club will close its doors for the last time at the end of the month
    4. If you want to listen to Bradford doing well in League One next season, you'll be able to listen to BBC Radio Leeds
    5. And if you're on your own on the M606, you can still use the 2+ lane!

  2. Weather: Dry night followed by dry day tomorrow

    Any showers will be dying away leaving a largely dry with clear spells overnight. Feeling chilly with lows of 10C (50F).

    Tomorrow we'll have a mostly dry and bright day with partly cloudy skies and sunny spells. Isolated showers possible. A maximum temperature of 19C (66F).

  3. Who played at the Batley Variety club?

    As we've been telling you today, the Batley Variety Cub, now known as Batley Frontier, will close later this month, almost 50 years after it opened.

     The venue has hosted some of the biggest names in showbiz over those five decades.

    The club opened in 1967 with a sold-out performance by The Bachelors, who had already scored eight top ten singles including a number one three years earlier with 'Diane'.

    In 1968 Louis Armstrong played the club just weeks after he knocked the Beatles off the number one spot in the UK charts with 'What a wonderful world'.

    In 1974, when the Bee Gees were performing, Yvonne Spencely was a waitress. She and Maurice Gibb hit it off and the pair married the next year.  

  4. Travel update: Incident on M606 J1

    We've had reports of an incident causing disruption on the M606 at J1 tonight.

    Police are on the scene and dealing with it. If you're unfamiliar with the area, it's the exit for Low Moor.  

  5. Watch: How my hand transplant saved my wife's life

    A West Yorkshire man's been talking about how he saved his wife's life - thanks to a pioneering hand transplant. 

    Mark Cahill from Halifax says he was only able to give Sylvia CPR when she had a heart attack, because of the new hand he was given back in 2012.

  6. Batley Variety Club to shut doors after 49 years

    More now on one of West Yorkshire's most legendary night spots, which is due to close after almost 50 years.

    The Batley Variety Cub, now known as Batley Frontier, hosted artists including Louis Armstrong and Dame Shirley Bassey

    General manager Nick Westwell described the closure as a "very sad time". A special event will be held on 30 July to celebrate the club.

    The venue, in Bradford Road, is due to be converted by JD Gyms.

  7. Six-year-old in hospital after crash

    A six year old boy has been airlifted to hospital after a crash in Wakefield earlier this morning.

    The boy was hit by a car just after 08:30 this morning, he was airlifted to hospital with head injuries.

    The crash happened near to Sandal Post Office.

    The boy was taken to the LGI where his condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

  8. Travel update: Accident A650 Bingley Bypass

    Another bit of travel information for you as we head into the rush hour, we've got one lane blocked on the  A650 Aire Valley Road westbound in Bingley between the Ferncliffe Road junction and Castlefields industrial estate roundabout.

    It's because of an accident involving a motorcycle.  

  9. Fly tippers could be in for £400 fine in Bradford

    People in Bradford who dump their rubbish in the countryside could be fined up to £400 if they're caught.

    The council are discussing plans to introduce the fixed penalty notices next week, it's been revealed.

    Flytipping

    Currently authorities can take people to court, which can result in a fine of £50,000 or 12 months in prison. But this can be very costly and time consuming.

    The possible new fines are aimed at small scale fly tippers, and it's thought it could save the council time and money in prosecutions.

  10. Travel update: M62 westbound broken down lorry causing queues

    We've got a bit of a problem on the M62 westbound this afternoon, there's queueing traffic at J24 (A629 Ainley Top) and J22 (A672 Rishworth Moor), because of a broken down lorry in lane three.

  11. Listen: Batley Frontier Club to close its doors for final time

    The former Batley Variety Club, which has played host to artists including Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and Roy Orbison over the years - will close its doors for the final time at the end of July.

    Now called the The Batley Frontier Club, it's going to be turned in to a gym after it closes.

  12. Pudsey gymnast to compete at Olympics for Team GB

    Congratulations to Pudsey 20-year-old Nile Wilson who has just been confirmed by Team GB for the Rio Olympics.

    He should be in with a good shout; earlier this year he took the individual gold on high-bar at the European Championships.

  13. Have you seen 23-year-old Ian Jeffries?

    Have you seen Ian Jeffries? The 23-year-old was last seen in Meanwood at 13:30 today.

    Police say he's thought to be driving a a grey Seat Ibiza, registration J555 FRS which was seen in Bridlington earlier this afternoon.

    He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, with blond hair, blue eyes and a beard.

  14. Listen: Farmers' questions over Brexit

    As the first day of the Great Yorkshire Show gets into full swing, the question of "what next" in the agricultural community is being asked a lot post-Brexit.

    It will remain to be seen what happens to food producers subsidies when the deals are done to bring the UK out of the EU.

  15. Bradford City sign Blackpool goalkeeper for £1

    League One side Bradford have signed Blackpool goalkeeper Colin Doyle for a fee of just £1 after meeting a release clause in his contract.

    Doyle made 35 appearances for Blackpool last season but could not help them avoid relegation to League Two.

    The 31-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal, joined Blackpool in June 2015 after 12 seasons at Birmingham.

  19. Search for attacker after woman robbed of jewellery

    A 30-year-old woman has been assaulted and robbed of her jewellery in Wakefield.

    She was attacked as she was walking past the Sandal Castle when a man has approached her. He assaulted her, causing injuries to her hand and stomach, before taking items of jewellery from her.

    The suspect is described as being over 6ft tall, of skinny build and spoke with an Eastern European accent.
