Nigerian masterpiece 'Tutu' goes under the hammer
In the early 70s, the late Igbo artist Ben Enwonwu, painted three portraits of a Yoruba princess, Adetutu Ademiluyi. His works became a symbol of national reconciliation in Nigeria, just a few years after the end of the Biafra civil war. The paintings were lost for decades and one of them was eventually found in a London flat. It now goes on sale today in the British capital. Bonham's Director of Modern African Art, Giles Peppiatt, the man who found the lost portrait and who is also behind the auction, spoke to BBC Newsday.
