Chirag: Watford fans need to now support this manager and give him a chance.

Johnny: Silva hasn't even emptied his office out an someone's sat in his seat.

Mar: Hard work and dedication guaranteed with him. The best of lucks, from Málaga.

Rukhsar: Just find the timing of it all so weird. Sacked the manager and already found a replacement within hours..

    Watford appoint Gracia

    Watford

Javi Gracia will take training at Watford for the first time on Monday. His first game in charge comes next Saturday at Southampton in the FA Cup.

  4. 'Silva's character in doubt'

    Watford appoint Gracia

    Ian Wright

Former Arsenal & England striker on 606

Marco Silva's character will be called in to doubt. If a player reacted like that we'd be criticising him and rightly so. If you want to go and you get that kind of offer sometimes it is too much to deal with. He couldn't focus on what he was doing.

Philippe Coutinho was able to do that, Alexis Sanchez couldn't, Marco Silva couldn't as a manager. His team stopped performing. Bigger clubs will see that as a fault in him

Watford think things out. They had a plan to see how he would react to the interest from Everton and he hasn't reacted in a positive way. They would have been feeling other people out. The way Watford have been getting rid of managers anyway I'm sure they are always looking.

Absolutely no messing about. I doubt Marco Silva has returned his company car yet but Javi Gracia is in on an 18-month deal.

  7. Ayew are you OK?

    Swansea City

A bit of transfer news for you this Sunday, Swansea City have had a bid rejected by West Ham United for their former forward Andre Ayew.

Ayew left the Liberty Stadium in August 2016 for the Hammers, who paid close to £20m for a player who scored 15 goals in his debut Premier League season.

Swansea may need to break their £15.5m transfer record, paid to Atletico Madrid for Borja Baston in August 2016, to re-sign the 28-year-old.

    Mauricio Pochettino reacts

Anon: Pochettino needs to show more ambition, no need for 2 holding midfielders when you need to win.

Andy: From almost selling Sissoko in the summer to playing him in almost every game! All part of Poch’s master-plan hmmm!!

  11. Life 'in the electric chair'

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

    Southampton

    Saints

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino to BBC Sport: "We have to continue in this way, the spirit and the commitment on the pitch was very good. Against these types of team you can lose in a minute, everything can change but we were there until the end.

"It is a massive performance for us, this is the way we have to play. It can stimulate everyone to believe in our football. We are in trouble in the table but in three or four weeks it can change. Between 10 or 11 teams there are just a few points and that will stay the same.

"In Argentina we say that the job is the electric chair, it is not easy to stay in the seat. I am pleased, this club has everything to carry us forwards. I want to improve, we are not happy. I don't worry about my job because I am happy doing the job. It is part of our life.

"Our club has a history of academy players, Michael Obafemi is just at the beginning but could be an important player in the future for us."

  13. 'Little by little, we improve'

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

    Southampton

    Pellegrino

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we are on the right path. In the last four games the response has been good. We cannot transform the performance into goals and more points but we need to show again in the next game. Every single game for us now is massive.

"In the second half, when they play with a diamond they were always dangerous but we had space in wide areas in this moment we had a couple of chances. They are an amazing team with top players. They don't need too many actions to create problems.

"This team, my players, have the quality to control the ball a bit more. Confidence is sometimes not the best when you are in a bad moment and don't want to take risks. But little by little we improve.

"For me, every single game is an opportunity to improve. We have to continue in this way. The Premier League is really tight. In three or four weeks time everything can change. We have to be optimistic."

  14. 'It will go the wire'

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs midfielder Eric Dier: "The race for the top four is as tight as it has ever been, it will be exciting for the fans. For sure it will go the final game, 100%."

Anon: Pointless having forwards on Spurs bench if they don't get used in games like this

Alan: What a joke this team is? Loads of talent no fight. To think I've wasted more than sixty years of my life following this rubbish.

Anon: Have a feeling every game Sissoko is named in starting 11 we under perform.. he is a spanner in the works! Please get rid...

  16. 'Southampton will push up the table'

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

    Saints

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to BBC Sport: "The game was even, we had more possession but we needed to be more aggressive and create more chances, The performance wasn't great but the pitch didn't help. Both teams fight a lot to win the game.

"You must give credit to the opponent, but i am not happy with our performance, We needed to move the ball quicker and create more, we made a lot of mistakes, it is impossible to win the game when you make these mistakes. The result is the result because football punishes us for not using the ball.

"It is temporary that Southampton are in the relegation zone, for sure they will push up the table. It is two points we are going to miss at the end of the season because it is so tough between six or seven teams.

"It is not easy to add a player who can help for three months. It is very difficult. For some clubs it is easier but it is not easy for us."

  18. 'We struggled to play'

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

    Tottenham

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it was an even game and a difficult game to play. The pitch was in a difficult condition. It was tough. A battle. It was fair the result.

"We struggled to play. It was in possession, we made mistakes which allowed them to play. To win the game we should do better and play better. It wasn't great.

"We tried to be more aggressive in our offensive phase and to link better Kane and Alli behind. This allowed us to be more aggressive in transition and use our full-backs going forward. We had a massive chance with Harry Kane at the end to win the game.

"We still have the possibility to fight. Southampton are in a relegation battle to it is not easy. They fight to survive. Every ball, they were aggressive. But it was our mistake to not win the game.

On potentially signing Malcom: "That is a rumour and I don't want to speak about it. I am happy with our squad. We are open to quality players but you know very well it is difficult in this transfer window."

Sadozaie: Take out Harry Kane goals from Harry Kane team and they are bang average.

Sohaib: If Kane was ever to get injured for a season, Spurs would be relegation candidates

Mark: Take away any Club's top goalscorer & they'd be bottom 6 too, so no different

  20. Post update

    Southampton 1-1 Tottenham

Southampton stay in the bottom three but if they are seeing this as a 'bonus' point they will be happy enough. Look how tight it is - Watford, in 10th, have 26 points.
