Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "I am so happy for the boys all these people, and my family. They suffer for me, they deserve it more than anybody.

"Did you ever see a team like, this, fighting with no fuel in the tank? And we have a keeper who makes difficult things look easy.

"It is the best night of our professional lives.

"It took a while, it is important for our development and improvement, This little mark helps a lot, now we can carry on. The owners never put pressure on us.

Jurgen Klopp conquers Europe. He said when he arrived four years ago that he needed a trophy and now he has the biggest one of all.

Liverpool picked themselves back up again this season, 97 points in the league, they grabbed the bull by the horns in Madrid.

Jordan Henderson speaking to BT Sport: "Without this manager this is impossible. You go through tough times in a season, but what he has done since coming in is unbelievable.

"There's such a togetherness, he has created a special dressing room - all the praise goes to the manager.

We were fighting, and we played so well in the second half. I feel so proud, a little bit unlucky. To start 1-0 down from the start was tough, we changed our plans but we are very proud of these players and these fans. We can be optimistic.

"That [penalty] was the circumstance we cannot manage or prepare for. You can never believe you will be 1-0 down after a minute. Mentally it was very tough, it’s about learning and experience, like Liverpool were in this position last year.

"I am so pleased to manage this group of players, but congratulations to Liverpool.

"The standards are so high, it wasn’t enough today. It’s a shame. You want to experience this again and repeat it. It is the best game in the world after the World Cup.

Former Tottenham hero Glenn Hoddle on BT Sport on that controversial penalty: "No way was it a penalty. Sissoko was pointing when he was running back, looking at something up the pitch, it’s like he was coaching sand saying ‘take the runner’.

"If he was trying to stop the cross, he would have out both hands up. It hit him in the chest and rolled along his arm. If that is a penalty, we will have 100 of them per game."

Jordan Henderson also said that he grew up dreaming of lifting the European Cup, which considering he was at Sunderland was a touch ambitious...

Jurgen Klopp is the first German manager to win a major trophy with an English team.

Udo Lattek (1982 Cup Winners' Cup with Barcelona) and Jupp Heynckes (1998 Champions League with Real Madrid) are the only two German coaches who have won a European trophy with a non-German team.
