  1. Bye for now

    Italy women 7-42 England women

And that is your first Six Nations weekend done and dusted.

    Appetite whetted? Interest piqued?

    You bet.

    Next week is

    Ireland v Italy

    England v Wales

    Scotland v France

    Nice.

    See you there.

  2. Post update

    Italy women 7-42 England women

England captain Sarah Hunter speaking to Sky Sports: "The first half did not go according to plan and we were not clinical enough, trying to force the extra pass and did not earn the right to score.

"We also gave away too many penalties. We delivered a better performance in the second half. It still was not good enough but we have plenty to work on.

"We have a very good squad with a lot of new faces that we feel will get better through the tournament."

  3. Full-time

  4. Try - Italy women 7-42 England women

    Sarah Hunter

Captain Sarah Hunter missed a golden chance to complete her hat-trick, allowing the ball to bobble out of her grasp at the back of a motoring England scrum.

    No worries.

Italy feed into the next set-piece, with the clock in the red. And Hunter's fellow forwards just repeat the trick.

The ball duly arrives at the skipper's feet and this time she does not miss the dot-down.

  5. Post update

    Italy women 7-37 England

Italy's scrum, soaked in lactic acid, speeds into reverse.

A clearing kick charged down... but no white hand can reach it before it goes dead.

  6. Post update

    Italy women 7-37 England women

Rowena Burnfield is halted just short as England go hunting a score to crown the victory.

Just short. But the scrum five will give them another shot surely...

  7. Try - Italy women 7-37 England women

    Ellie Kildunne

Ellie Kildunne, England's 18-year-old full-back, has been a massive threat with ball in hand.

Pacy, with a step and sixth sense for where the space is, she glides through once again and a mob of blue-shirted defenders cannot stop her sliding over.

  8. Converted try - Italy women 7-32 England women

    Sarah Hunter (con Daley-Mclean)

England's superior fitness is starting to show.

They are running hard and fast as the Italy defence starts to flake.

Captain Sarah Hunter punches a hole around the fringe to get over the final few yards and keep the scoreboard ticking over.

  9. Try - Italy women 7-25 England women

    Abigail Dow

    The bonus point is secure.

    And probably victory is too.

Abigail Dow took a fearful whack from a covering defender, but withstood it to dot down.

England made hard work of converting that overlap into a try, but they just about made it.

  10. Try review - Dow into the corner

    Italy women 7-20 England women

The final pass from Ellie Kildunne and the grounding from Abigail Dow are both under the microscope...

  11. Try - Italy women 7-20 England women

    Poppy Cleall

Poppy Cleall has been excellent today and the flanker pops up in the wide channel to plough over for England's third score.

After a wasteful first half, England are making pressure pay in the second.

The conversion hooks wide from Katy Daley-Mclean.

  12. Try - Italy women 7-15 England women

    Sarah Hunter

    Try stands!

A captain's score to help pull England clear.

Sarah Hunter was the tailgunner at the back of a rock-solid driving maul.

Katy Daley-Mclean screws the conversion across the face of the posts though.

  13. Try review - England rumble over....

    Italy women 7-10 England women

...but let's have a second look at that grounding.

Sarah Hunter seems to have got it down OK.

  14. Post update

    Italy women 7-10 England women

    A penalty for England.

And they go to the corner.

    A roll of the dice.

And Amy Cokayne comes on for Lark Davies at hooker.

Her first task will be to pick out her jumper.

  15. Post update

    Italy women 7-10 England women

England are sniffing up around the Italy 22m.

The hosts are keeping out of the breakdown and fanning wide to try and keep themselves covered.

    Pick and go time?

  16. Post update

    Italy women 7-10 England women

Sarah Bern is like a runaway boulder, crashing through the first line of Italy defence and then steaming another 30 metres upfield.

    Superb from the prop.

  17. Penalty - Italy women 7-10 England women

    Katy Daley-Mclean

Katy Daley-Mclean could have kicked that one in her carpet slippers.

    Easy. And the lead.

  18. Post update

    Italy women 7-7 England women

Marlie Packer's ghosting angle has Italy heading backwards at pace.

The home side never really recover and infringe offside.

This should be straightforward for Katy Daley-Mclean.

  19. Kick-off

    Italy women 7-7 England women

    And we are back underway...

And England are straight onto the front foot.

  20. Half-time

    Italy women 7-7 England women

England have had more of the ball, more of the territory and more of the chances, but they only have half the scoreboard.

    All square.
