'Messi loves Argentina'
Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli: "Every time Lionel Messi plays he shows that he is a fantastic player, above everybody else, but he needs support from his team-mates. Only then will he play at his best, like he did most of the time today.
"His human side is amazing. He cries and suffers, he is happy when Argentina wins. It's important he shares those feelings. Many people say Leo does not enjoy playing for Argentina, but I don't agree."

Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
Jorge Sampaoli: "The starting XI against France will depend on the skillset we need for that match. We will analyse that.
"I don't want to analyse the media. The media really needs to satisfy popular needs. They simply say what people want to needs. It is interesting to know why things happen, why the media fights to tell these stories. It's not only the fault of the media, it is what audiences expect."

Jorge Sampaoli: "When Leo hugged me I was very proud and happy. I'm passionate every single day. I have been able to travel and share many moments with him. He knows me well and we have a common dream.
"We had to play with three midfielders and Leo on the right, trying to create opportunities. What the front three did in the first half stopped out opponents."

A Russian reporter has asked Jorge Sampaoli to sing a chant. Never going to happen.
'Players were brave'
Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
More from Jorge Sampaoli: "The players knew that they are excellent players and they wanted to show that. Today they won against an excellent opponent. We fought until the very last minute.
"We realised Nigeria had enough with a draw so we made many changes, trying to create opportunities. The players were brave and that courage made the second goal possible."
A manager leaves us...
Hector Cuper has left his role as Egypt manager after they were knocked out of the World Cup at the group stage.
Egypt, appearing at their first World Cup finals for 28 years, finished bottom of Group A and failed to pick up a point.
A 1-0 defeat by Uruguay was followed by 3-1 loss to Russia and ended with Monday's 2-1 defeat by Saudi Arabia.

Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli: "My players achieved a victory which is very important for the future. It's a good opportunity."
'True rebels'
Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli: "My players play with their heart - they are true rebels.
"This victory came from the fact that the players were convinced that they are excellent players."

More from Lionel Messi: "We have watched every France game - we have watched every game of this World Cup. France are a very good side with skilled players, very fast players who can really make a difference."

Rich Scales: Yes France looked poor.... but they didn't need to do anything....Nigeria are ranked 48th in the world yet Argentina were still poor. I can't see them beating France, at all
Shaun McCann: That Leicester type winner could be England if we actually get some luck for a change. Well, we can hope!
Post update
We are still waiting for the Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli to face the cameras. He got an absolute grilling the other night. He may enjoy this news conference a bit more.

More from Jon Obi Mikel: "We will be really ready for the next World Cup. This team will do great things. It's a shame we couldn't continue the amazing journey we've had."
'A clear penalty'
Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
Nigeria's Jon Obi Mikel: "It was a clear penalty for me. If you look at the Portugal game yesterday, this wasn't close to that. This was worse. We have seen it again in the dressing room. It was a clear handball.
"The referee looked at the VAR. He said it hit the hand. I asked why he didn't give the penalty, but he said he didn't know."
'We didn't have the luck today'
Nigeria 1-2 Argentina
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr: "It was a little bit down to luck and we didn't have it today.
"We did so well. We had the problem of having one day less than Argentina. Perhaps, at the end of the match, that was dangerous.
"Everybody did well. The goal was coming. When I see what happened in the first half, perhaps I wouldn't start with the same team because Iheanacho wasn't fit."
'France looked poor'

France have won their group but looked really poor today. There was no cohesion between Giroud, Griezmann or Mbappe. They will have to hit top form to beat Argentina.
Can Argentina lift their game? If Mascherano is the one picking the team then that is a shambles.
