It's always nice to play in the derby. I hope Scotland get through. I have friends who are desperate to play at the Euros.

Belgium football journalist Kristof Terreur on their group: "We still have a little trauma from four years so we would rather have had Finland [than Wales]. In the end it's a good group and one we should get through I think.

"I feel confident we will win this group. We have more quality than all the teams in this group."

Wales manager Ryan Giggs speaking to BBC 5 Live: "We knew we were going to be in group A or B but I loved that we were not in Group F. It was fantastic that we’re back, 2016 was not a flash in the pan.

"Italy are the stand out team in our group. It won't be easy but if we have all our players we’ll compete against all of them.

"I’ve got bad memories and good memories of playing in Rome. Hopefully when we play Italy they will have six points already and will play the reserves."

On being based in Baku: 'We got experience of being in Baku, we know what is like. It is good to have the first two games there, logistically for us is better to base us in Azerbaijan for the first two games, also for the fans.

"I think with the two games every two days it is an option, we’ll look at different permutations and if there is somewhere better we’ll explore everything."

Wales manager Ryan Giggs speaking to BBC Two: "Logistically looking at it, it's Baku, Baku, Rome, rather than having Rome in the middle - so for the fans it's much better. Switzerland are a good team, talented. Turkey were in a group with France and Iceland so have done well to come through that. And Italy have won every game so that will be tough.

"I've played against Italy a few times. With their qualifying, winning every game, and a really good footballing country - I look forward to that game.

"You could feel it, the noise around the arena [when the group of death came out]. I'm glad we're not the fourth team in that group.

"I'll get around and watch the players as much as I can. You hope that come June you have a group of healthy players to choose from and if we have that we're a match for anyone.

"We want to take our chance, just like in 2016. It's not easy, you have to get the momentum like we did on France."

There had been a genuine possibility that Wales would have to play in Azerbaijan on the Saturday, Italy on the Wednesday and back to Azerbaijan on the Sunday. I guess they'll be able to just stay in or around Baku now.

I think that's a good point that it goes Baku, Baku Rome for venues. If you had Italy in the middle then it would be more difficult. I sense Ryan Giggs is very happy there with what the draw has presented us. Once it all calms down, he will be able to start planning properly.

More from Gareth Southgate on England's potential route: "If you can win and be top seeds then you have to take control of your destiny. Let's hope we have the decision to make. We will take on whoever that comes. Everyone will be thinking the same about playing us."

On playing at Wembley: "I think it will be a brilliant experience for our fans, the public and the players. Ten nations have that opportunity so it doesn't make it an advantage for winning the tournament unless we can get to the semi-finals then we have it back in our favour.

"We even experienced what it was like from our base in Russia two years ago. That is the beauty of being involved with England in a major tournament. It's very, very special. We have to accept that expectations have changed from where we were. We are very critical of ourselves. We would rather be a team that are fancied than a team with no chance."

England manager Gareth Southgate speaking on BBC Two: "I'm never sure whether it's a good draw. We have played two of the teams before and for us to play at Wembley is something special. We are looking forward to the tournament.

"We know the quality of [Croatia's] midfielders. That's a top-level fixture. I actually had a picture with Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic before. He wanted to be in London so that's interesting from their point of view.

"We like so many of our young players that are emerging. Our team for the last two qualifiers were extremely young so we need to make sure we get the balance right. Sometimes other coaches try to draw you in. I've been in the game long enough to know how it works.

"There are 8-10 big countries. The margins are really, really fine."

Wales face Switzerland on 13 June in Baku, Turkey on 17 June - both in Baku - and Italy in Rome on 21 June.

This is when England play their games - Croatia on 14 June, the Path C play-off winner on 19 June and the Czech Republic on 23 June. All at Wembley.

Ryan Giggs laughs that he hopes Italy have won all their games so can put out a weakened team when they meet in their final Group A game.

England benefit from hosting all their group games, as well as the semi-finals and final - so it is possible to map out where all their games would be in the tournament. There is one last-16 tie at Wembley, although Gareth Southgate's side could not play in that one.

The top two teams from each group go through to the last 16, along with the four best third-placed teams. That means only eight teams actually go out in the group stages.

If England win Group D, their last-16 tie would be in Dublin, with a potential quarter-final in Rome. If they finish second, it would be Copenhagen and St Petersburg. There are other possibilities if they finish third.

Wales will face at least one trip to Azerbaijan or Russia - with their two possible groups being hosted in Rome-Baku or Copenhagen-St Petersburg.
