'Liverpool look even better'

On another win for Liverpool: They’re looking maybe even better (than last season). This is the standard they have to set. This is a tricky place to come, they’ve got their lucky breaks but then they’ve steamrollered them.
Poor Burnley didn’t know what had hit them.

Four games into the Premier League season and already there is a pause for the first international break of the season.
Liverpool's next game is at home to Newcastle United on 14 September (12:30 BST) while Burnley are at Brighton on the same day (15:00).
'Van Dijk makes the difference'

Burnley
More from Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I didn't think there was a lot in the game. The game turns when they get a deflection off Chris Woods' shoulder and it wrong-foots the keeper.
"At 2-0 it is difficult and you know you have qot work to do. Liverpool really find those clinical moments.
"Liverpool's defensive unit has improved massively through Virgil van Dijk. He's been a huge difference to them and they are more aggressive from the front because the back-line is pressing so much.
"We have been unlucky not to get more points this season. At Arsenal we deserved a point and at Wolves it was a contentious penalty. Today was different. One goal is unlucky but you can't give them a second goal."

Kwame Manu-Antwi: If this is not Liverpool's year, then it may never come.
Temesgen: Unless tamed sooner, #salah selfishness may hurt #LFC someday sooner in the title race.
MrHodson: Watching the Liverpool game as a neutral and can't believe how greedy Salah was all match! PASS THE BALL.
Tunde Paul: Probably have fellow LFC fans running after me for saying this; Salah & Mane, one of the reasons Liverpool did not pip City to the league last season, Salah especially is too selfish. Almost like rivalry. Klopp must be aware & I'm surprised he hasn't addressed it.
'Liverpool punished us'
Burnley 0-3 Liverpool
Burnley
Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "The first goal takes a big deflection and wrong-foots Nick Pope. You don't want to give teams like this a head start. They then punished us. We know they are good on transition but I don't think there was massive amounts in it beyond that. As soon as the ball turns over though they hurt you.
"One of my many obsessions is players turning their back when the ball is hit at them but that is splitting hairs. I'm not going to be too critical for that.
"A lot of the game we tried to affect them and I thought we did. They are working with a higher line this year and we got among them. But the big teams are clinical around the box and that is why they are so good. Once the second goes in it is tough. It is tough to break them down. They were the better side but I don't think it was a 3-0 game. I am pleased with what I am seeing from the mentality of the side."
'We played a sensational game'

Liverpool
More from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC MOTD: " Formation wise, the boys were disciplined like hell. The last line was incredible, I don't know how many headed challenges we made.
"The players pretty much played the perfect game. I really liked the game and it was really deserved. It's our most deserved win of the season - the boys played a sensational game."
Asked about Sadio Mane's reaction, Klopp said: "Everybody is happy. He is an emotional guy. Would he do it exactly like this again, probably not. I like this. He is completely fine and everything is good and we completely like each other."

Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports: "We were brilliant, there were so many 50/50 situations because of the long balls but we played early balls in behind as well. In moments we played really, really good football. Everything was there.
"We were a bit lucky with the first goal but we forced that situation. We controlled the game as much as you can. Wood and Barnes fight so hard for these balls, and we defended it really well. We were aggressive but gave away no fouls, we worked our socks off.
"Burnley play football as well, we had opportunities to score on the counter attack, you have to prepare the trigger. This sort of a game is a real challenge for our concentration. You have to be ready.
"Sadio Mane is an emotional guy, we are all individuals. Something went not like he wanted, it is not the substitution. We will clarify it in the dressing room.
"Very early when I came in I told everyone that we want to create our own history and that is what the boys do week in, week out. We had a tricky pre-season so I didn't expect these first four games."

Jurgen Klopp is giving an interview to Sky Sports.
"You're kidding?" he says when told Trent Alexander-Arnold's effort has gone down as an own goal.
'One of the toughest places to come'
FT: Burnley 0-3 Liverpool
Liverpool
More from Trent Alexander-Arnold, this time speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was important to get the first goal as quickly as we could. Burnley is one of the toughest places to come to because the ground is so small and compact.
"To get three goals and a clean sheet is massive for us."
'I'm not fussed it's an own goal'
FT: Burnley 0-3 Liverpool
Liverpool
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports: "We got a bit of luck with the deflection but a goal's a goal and nobody will complain. We managed to get a clean sheet which is the most important thing for us. We have done what we wanted to do, we shut them out.
"They invite crosses into the box, that's the way they like to defend so I was trying to find a different angle in behind. Luckily it got a deflection, I'm not too fussed it's an own goal.
"We want to be setting records, doing good things. It's an unbelievable side we've got. Hopefully we can keep that rhythm up and stay injury free. We pushed City all the way last season and hopefully we can go one step further."

On a performance like this, Liverpool are again just beating teams by their strength and their quality. They’ve had six or seven good chances and they’ve taken three of them. Burnley were at it up until half-time, they fell away a bit in the second half.

Paul Tunde: Well, both Mane and Salah need a telling off, they seldom pass to each other to get easy goal for the team. Mane was right to be angry.
John: Salah needs to understand that goal difference may be the difference this season, so his greediness in not playing in his better placed teammates could be crucial.
