Anthony Joshua delivered a stunning finish to stop a game Alexander Povetkin and retain his world heavyweight titles at Wembley Stadium.
The IBF, WBO and WBA champion, criticised in some quarters for failing to finalise a deal with the division's other high-profile names, responded emphatically with a seventh-round stoppage of the Russian, who had never been beaten inside the distance.
After an early chess match in which Joshua suffered a bloodied nose before cutting his rival, the Briton grew in confidence and a savage right hand followed by a left hook began an onslaught which would prove telling.
Another right-left combination downed Povetkin, who somehow made the count, only to stagger into a left hook which saw him slump into the ropes, leaving referee Steve Gray with no option but to intervene.
Roars poured down to ringside as the rain had all day, with Joshua's corner ecstatic and rightly so. His display showcased poise, intellect and power, sending a message to the heavyweight division that the champion will take some stopping.

More from Anthony Joshua, who is asked who he thinks will win in the Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury fight, which is scheduled for December 1.
"May the champion bring himself here and have a good old fashioned dust-up," says Joshua. "All I want to fight is serious challengers. If Dillian (Whyte) wants to fight here he is also more than welcome."
Pushed on who his favoured opponent would be, Joshua replies: "My number one would be Wilder, let's not talk about a number two or three."
'There is a lot of pressure'
Anthony Joshua says: "Alexander Povetkin is a very tough challenger he proved that tonight. I came here to have fun, do what I have done in the gym, he was strong to the head but weak to the body it could have taken seven, nine or 12 rounds to get him out of there.
"Tonight is out of the way let's figure out what's happening on April 13. Let's put a vote out there.
"There are no mandatory challengers? Who do we want to fight? Anyone is welcome. The sport is about what the fans want, but some times we have to face the mandatories."
Asked why the fight against Deontay Wilder did not happen, Joshua adds: "We both did a lot of talking, I'm here now, I had a good fight, have my knockout streak back.
"There is a lot of pressure the whole country is rooting for us. The energy in here spurs you on and you do feel that pressure, I'm not going to lie. A few years ago maybe I wouldn't have won the fight."

We are seeing that right that sent Povetkin down. How did he get up from that? A beautiful, beautiful shot, immediately after a huge left. Even in slow motion it looked lightning quick. Povetkin somehow hauled himself up but the fight would only last another 20 seconds.
