FA Cup: Man City, Leicester & Bournemouth win, Wolves-Man Utd goes to replay

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about Paul Pogba, again.

Again he said the Frenchman is going nowhere this month.

"You won’t see Paul go in January," he said.

On that Jimenez link, the Manchester United boss replied: "Another good player we have been linked with. He did really well today. I can’t comment on speculation."

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Match of the Day: “At times today we were at our best, especially in the second half. The first half was not so good. We were much better in the second half, created chances and had good combinations. There were moments of really good football.”

On his team’s hectic schedule: “We must compete. We are always happy to face Manchester United. Whether you face them home or away you always have to challenge yourself. This is what you want to become better - challenging yourself against the best teams.

“It’s about having a team that can compete against any opponent.”

Wolves defender Matt Doherty: “We’re obviously disappointed that we didn’t win the game. We restricted them and had a few chances of our own. We’ll go to Old Trafford now and we’ll try to win.

“When we’re at home under the lights against a big team, our results are normally pretty positive. We can’t be too disappointed even though we didn’t get the win.

“We’re in pretty good shape so we’re not going to complain about playing games.”

On the disallowed goal: “Initially I thought the ball was going to be a little bit too high, but in the end it was the perfect ball. I was disappointed because I thought it was a bit of a tap-in.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola told BBC Sport: "When Port Vale get contact with Tom Pope and run they are a danger. In the second half we created a lot of chances so we are into the next round."

On Taylor Harwood-Bellis's performance: "He is growing every day and he is a player with a lot of quality. He played in the Carabao Cup and did well and he is a guy who is always so focused.

"This is the oldest cup competition in this country, so of course these kind of games you take seriously and you do what you have to do. We will be in the draw but it is still a long way to reach the final."

On inviting Port Vale players into the home dressing room: "It is a pleasure when these teams can be alongside our players and why this country and this competition is so special."

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "We had to keep playing our football and wear them down. It was important today that the squad stepped up and there were a few changes. I'm really pleased - Phil's first goal for the club and Dominic's

"I couldn’t believe Dominic's first effort was ruled out. He hit the post against West Ham. Then you think he’s done it but it’s disallowed - credit to him for keeping going. Hope it’s the first of many.

"I'm also really pleased for Callum. He needed that – he's is a big player for us.

"We need to approach every game like the biggest game of our lives. It starts next week."

Wigan manager Paul Cook told BBC Sport: "It was a good game, Leicester are absolute quality and to watch them up close and personal is an eye opener.

"It would've been nice if we could've nicked a goal. We just wish Leicester well and we will concentrate on the league.

"You are always holding your breath at places like this with the quality they have. I was pleased with our lads, we have had a tough schedule and our players can be proud of how they have performed and conducted themselves today."

More concrete seems to be the likelihood of Patrick Cutrone leaving Wolves for Fiorentina.

Cutrone was left out of tonight's game and Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo indicated a transfer is on the horizon.

"I had a good conversation with Patrick and we decided for him not to be involved tonight," said Nuno. "Let's wait and see. Maybe something is happening about that."

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sport: "They are a good side and we got a very good result and into the next round but we did not play particularly well.

"Our performance was not very good and we need to be better than that. The players gave everything and defensively we were good but offensively we were too static. I couldn't fault the mentality of the team, as always it was top class, but we demand more quality.

"The players have been immense in this period. It has been a tough schedule and I've tried to manage them, now we look to the next game. Our ambition is to be competitive whether it's the league or it's the cup competitions."

Man City's Taylor Harwood-Bellis told BBC Sport: "It was quite obvious it came off me. I thought I was offside but I found out I wasn't and I'll take it, a goal is a goal. It's a competition I have been watching as a boy and to play in front of the home fans was a great occasion for my whole family.

"They [Port Vale] did OK to start off with but we have enough quality in our team to react and bounce back."

On academy graduates: "We are just doing all we can to show the manager we are capable of playing."

Bournemouth goalscorer Dominic Solanke on scoring his first goal for the club: "It's been a long wait. After the first goal was disallowed my emotions were all over the place. I'm delighted to get a goal in the end."

On the disallowed goal: "I'm not going to lie – I thought there wouldn’t be anything wrong but then Harry Wilson managed to be offside. Harry mentioned it after game but that’s part of football."

On his goal: "I thought the move was over but the ball managed to bounce to me in the box. We needed that boost tonight especially because it was a big win."

Port Vale manager John Askey told BBC Sport: "I thought they [his players] were fantastic. I'm really proud of them to come here and hold them for so long. Going into half time you have to pinch yourself that it's 1-1. We knew it was going to be tough and before the game I was worried that teams have come here and been annihilated but I'm sure the fans are proud of the team.

"We rode our luck a little bit at times. When that goal [Tom Pope] went in you start to dream a little bit. I was disappointed in the three goals we conceded before the fourth because they were avoidable and it was somebody's heel that kept them onside. Our supporters never stopped throughout the game.

"I'm so proud, and to see so many people come from Stoke on Trent cheering us on, I could not have asked for much more. I have just been in his [Pep Guardiola} office and he poured me a glass of red wine. We spoke about football and it was nice to have a chat."

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was quite vague with his answer when he was asked about rumoured Manchester United interest in his striker Raul Jimenez.

No-one at United has mentioned the Mexican as a target but Nuno is ready for anything it seems.

"It's the first-time I heard it but the transfer window is open. When it is open anything can happen. We are delighted to have Raul."

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to MOTD: "I'm happier to be in the replay than going out - it's a tough place to come.

"They had chances, Sergio Romero made some great saves and we got off the hook with the header. Sergio has never let us down, he's kept so many clean sheets. He is a fantastic human being and a top professional.

"He's putting pressure on David de Gea and that's what we want. We want the best players in the world here.

"It's a competition I love. It's a fair result that we are both still in the cup."

Luton manager Graeme Jones: "We had a fantastic opportunity from the penalty spot. And Harry Cornick had a one on one with keeper."

On the penalty miss: "Alan Sheehan is a perfectionist - he wants to score but his standing foot goes. James Collins is our penalty taker but he's not on the pitch. You don’t want to miss penalties.

"You just want to see it in the back of the net and then the dynamics change.

"We're disappointed to go out of the cup. We had a group of players who had not played a lot recently – we don't have under 23 reserves. I'm gutted really. We could have done to go through or get a replay. It is what it is. We have 20 games to stay in Championship."
