  2. 'One of the most significant days in recent history'

    Cornelius Lysaght

    BBC racing correspondent at Cheltenham

This has the ability to be one of the most significant days in the recent history of the Festival.

The amount of times people say to me 'oh, horse racing is so old-fashioned, it's all men, all middle-class and really dull.

The fact is racing has a lot to be confident and on the front foot about, particularly in terms of female participants who weren't even allowed to be a part of it until the late 1960s.

Bryony Frost guiding Frodon to victory, 45 minutes later Emma Lavelle being the trainer of the winning Paisley Park, and then Lizzie Kelly goes and rides a winner.

These are really significant results. It is really important in a sporting world where other sports are so much more powerful that racing has had a headline-grabbing day.

  3. If you're just joining us...

Bryony Frost made Cheltenham Festival history as she became the first woman to ride a top-level Grade One winner over jumps at the meeting when Frodon landed an emotional triumph in the Ryanair Chase.

Paisley Park lived up to his reputation with a superb victory in the Stayers' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

  5. 'You could hear the emotion in his voice'

    Noel Fehily announces retirement

    Andrew Thornton

Jockey on BBC Radio 5 live

What a fantastic career Noel Fehily has had.

He has been through so much in the last six weeks health-wise, I'd imagine just to get himself here would have been hard.

He's got a great family, two lovely children and a good set-up with good youngsters coming through.

You could hear the emotion in his voice as he came down the walkway. It could well have been a spur of the moment thing at the top and he thought 'it won't get much better than this'.

  6. 'I've ridden some lovely horses'

    Noel Fehily announces retirement

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Leading jockey Noel Fehily, who has announced he will retire later this year, says his Cheltenham triumphs are among his greatest memories.

The 43-year-old Irishman won two Champion Hurdles - on Rock On Ruby in 2012 and Buveur d'Air in 2017 - along with victory on Special Tiara in the Champion Chase two years ago.

He also claimed success twice in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park - in 2013 and 2014 - on Silviniaco Conti.

"I'm lucky and had some great days. I've ridden some lovely horses and had great support," he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.

"I have a few things in the pipeline, but I will take a little break and decide from there.

  7. 'I'll miss it like hell'

    Noel Fehily announces retirement

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Leading jockey Noel Fehily has confirmed to the BBC that he plans to retire later this year, saying this will be his "last Festival".

"It's a young man's game, you can't go on forever," he tells BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.

"I will be 44 this year, I've had a great time, loved every minute of it and I'll miss it like hell.

"I could go on but I was very ill in January and February and it didn't look like I would make the festival for a while.

"So to come here and ride a winner seems like the perfect ending. I will carry on for the next couple of weeks and then I'll decide when to stop."
