Al Boum Photo and Paul Townend have deservedly plugged a significant hole in an otherwise glittering CV of Willie Mullins.
Six second places in 20 years of trying as extraordinary as it must have been heart-wrenching.
But it has been a mixed day for the team.
The winner was ranked number three out of four of the Mullins contenders but none of the other three completed.
Invitation Only, ridden by the trainer's son Patrick, suffered fatal injuries in a fall.
Some good news
Thankfully Not That Fuisse is up and walking having fallen at the last hurdle.
Willie Mullins & Nico De Boinville take accolades
Willie Mullins emerges as the top trainer of the week with Nico De Boinville taking the jockey's accolade.
Like father, like son
How about this for a nice little factoid.
Willie Mullins earned his first Gold Cup win earlier, following in the footsteps of his dad Paddy who saddled Dawn Run in 1986.
And on the same day Jonjo O'Neill - whose dad Jonjo senior was on board Dawn Run - has just ridden his first Festival winner.

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
Winning 21-year-old jockey Jonjo O'Neill: "It's amazing. It is what you dream of every day.
"It's a dream come true. It's massive for my parents and it's a huge delight to do it for Joseph. I've repaid the favour."

Early Doors beats the favourite Dallas Des Pictons for Joseph O'Brien. That's a second winner of the week.
It will give him at least some joy after a terrible day for his yard.

If Nicky Henderson doesn't win it then Willie Mullins will be the leading trainer of the Festival. That would cap a brilliant day.
