Celtic captain Scott Brown has reaction with enthusiasm at the news of Neil Lennon being offered the manager's job on a permanent basis.

"It’s phenomenal," he says. "It can’t get much better. We all found out on Twitter and all the lads are diving about in the changing room.

"We went out, got the gaffer and brought him back in. The cheer for the manager to get the job - it was phenomenal.

"He deserves it. It has been a hard one since he came in but he’s the only man in my eyes for the job."

"I’m delighted to announce he’s been offered the job.”

He doesn't actually say it in so many words, but you can gather that Neil Lennon is minded to accept the offer to become Celtic manager on a permanent basis.

"It's a privilege," he tells Celtic TV. "It's been my privilege to manage the club once. To do it a second time, I feel like I've come full circle again.

"It was always my objective. I left on good terms the last time and it's been a rollercoaster couple of months - difficult, but I hope I bring a lot more success to the club going forward.

"The works already begun really. There will be changes obviously, but I don't want to change too much because it's been a really good transition between myself and Brendan."

Rugby union's Pro14 final taking place at Celtic Park means the Scottish Cup winners won't be able to celebrate on their home turf tonight.

Whether that victory over Hearts was crucial or not, Celtic have ended the speculation over Neil Lennon's future by making a swift announcement.

Now the question is - will he accept it? You can probably guess that he will considering what he has been saying in recent weeks.

Lennon is in his second spell as Celtic boss, having been named interim manager following Brendan Rodgers' switch to Leicester City in February.

Celtic Park is hogging the headlines today, with the Pro14 final taking place at the club's home stadium tonight.

The build-up has already begun on the BBC Sport website ahead of the 18:30 kick-off as Glasgow Warriors face holders Leinster.

Hearts manager Craig Levein: "It was competitive. I thought we tried as hard as we could to win the match. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to do that either for ourselves or the supporters."

Levein was pleased with his tactics, telling BBC Scotland: "It did work. We frustrated Celtic for long periods and we broke quickly when we regained possession.

"We're playing against a good side and we did lose moments of concentration and in the match I think I could count them on one hand. We lost a couple of goals and that's ultimately what's cost us."

Hearts left-back Aaron Hickey is a perhaps surprise winner of your man of the match vote.

The 16-year-old, now the youngest player ever to play in a Scottish Cup final, had a superb game, marking Scotland winger James Forrest out of the game.

But Odsonne Edouard might feel aggrieved considering the Celtic striker's match-winning, treble-treble clinching double.
