  1. Goodbye: Five things we learned today

    1. Children in our region are more likely to be disengaged with education

  2. Cleethorpes house prices falling

    Cleethorpes has seen the biggest percentage fall in house prices when compared with other seaside towns in the UK with house prices falling by 5.47%. 

    The average price of a property in Cleethorpes is around £126,000 according to Zoopla. 

    In contrast, Margate in Kent saw the biggest percentage rise at 12.54% with the average property costing £202,276.

  3. Violent crime up 20% in Humberside Police Force area

    In the past year violent crime has risen by 20% in the Humberside Police Force area. 

    Latest figures from March 2015 to March 2016 also show the number of robberies has risen by 31% and possession of a weapon is up by 9%. 

    The number of sexual offences reported has also increased by 9%.

  4. Scunthorpe parks and Hull park retain Green Flag Award

    Kingsway Gardens and Woodlands Memorial Park and Crematorium in Scunthorpe and East Park in Hull (pictured) have all kept their Green Flag Awards.

    The award, now celebrating its 20th year, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

  5. CCG covering parts of East Yorkshire in 'financial special measures'

    The Vale of York CCG which covers parts of East Yorkshire such as Pocklington has been put into 'financial special measures'. 

    It's because NHS England doesn't believe the Clinical Commissioning Group is providing a good enough service for patients. 

    It's currently rated inadequate. 

  6. Weather: Rain overnight

    Showers this evening should die away for a time, however cloud amounts will increase later, with some showery rain spreading in from the western parts, like Goole, after midnight. 

    Temperatures should remain on the warm side given cloud cover.

  7. Beverley Westwood cycleway and footpath complete

    Work on a £265,000 cycleway and footpath across part of Beverley Westwood has been completed. 

    The new route runs along the B1230 from Cartwright Lane to Broadgate. 

    It's the final link in a network of routes connecting the town to nearby villages.

  8. Tracey Curtis Taylor: 'My whole life I've been inspired by Amy Johnson'

    A new plaque celebrating the life of Hull aviator Amy Johnson has been unveiled this afternoon. 

    She was the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930. 

    Earlier I spoke to Tracey Curtis Taylor who recently flew around the world in a biplane as a tribute to Amy:

  9. City of Culture sign unveiled at Port of Hull

    A huge sign's been unveiled at the Port of Hull, welcoming people to the UK City of Culture 2017. 

    The banner will be seen by passengers arriving on ferries from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge. 

    It's part of a partnership between ABP which runs the port, and the City of Culture team.

  10. Hull's CCG could introduce online doctors appointments

    People in Hull could soon be able to speak to their doctor via an online appointment. 

    Hull's Clinical Commissioning group are considering introducing the idea.

  11. Man dies following resuce attempt at Bridlington beach

    Humberside Police have confirmed that a 70-year-old man has died after he was recovered from the sea yesterday in Bridlington.

    The RNLI lifeboat was launched to assist paramedics and the coastguard after the man was seen to be in trouble.

  13. Woman dies after falling off mobility scooter in East Riding

    An 80-year-old woman has died after falling from her mobility scooter in the East Riding. 

    She was riding along Beverley Road in Willerby on Tuesday 12th July when she suffered serious injuries. She died a week later in hospital. 

    Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened and in particular a woman - believed to be a nurse - who stopped to help.

  14. Traffic and travel: Vehicle fire on M180

    There's been another vehicle fire but this time on the M180 westbound between J5, A15 (Barnetby Top) and J4, A15 (Scawby). 

    Humberside Fire and Rescue were on the scene at 14:21 and the fire was put out by 14:27.

    A car on the hard shoulder was on fire so the motorway is still open but you may experience some delays.

  15. Traffic and travel: A614 in Howden reopen

    Earlier we reported a van on fire on the A614 which was causing severe delays around Howden.

    Humberside Fire and Rescue service say the fire was put out around 11:15.

    The A614 has now reopened in both directions but there may still be some congestion in the area.

  16. Local MP concerned over school funding

    A North East Lincolnshire MP has expressed concerns that pupils in the county could be worse off under plans designed to make school funding fairer. 

    The new Education Secretary Justine Greening has delayed changes to the way schools' cash is allocated, saying she needs an extra year to get it right.

  17. Weather: Sunny spells and isolated showers

    Sunny spells will lead to a largely fine afternoon, perhaps giving way to isolated showers during the day. 

    Temperatures should not reach recent highs, but should still feel warm, with light winds throughout.

  18. Beverley estate agent fined for misleading adverts

    A Beverley estate agent has been ordered to pay over £7,500 after admitting advertising holiday homes as permanent homes.

    Paul Staniford, senior partner of Stanifords estate agents was caught after a trading standards officer saw an advert by Stanifords estate agents. The advert failed to include that the property was a holiday home only.

    Paul Staniford, 61, of Main Street, Cherry Burton pleaded guilty to one charge of misleading advertising at Beverley Magistrates Court yesterday.

  19. Archive footage of Beverley screened today

    People in the Beverley are getting the chance today to see what their town was like decades ago. 

    The British Film Institute's Britain on Film tour is coming to the town with two screenings of high quality archive films at the town's Parkway Cinema.
