  3. Olympic size challenge in Rotherham

    BBC Radio Sheffield

Weight loss clients at the Rotherham Institute of Obesity are taking on an Olympic-size challenge.

It's known as RIO, and they are setting off walking, running, and rowing their way to the "other" Rio - that's the one in Rio de Janeiro, the site of the Olympic Games.

The eight-week adventure will see clients complete nearly 10,000km on gym equipment, with their distance carefully tracked.

The idea came from exercise therapist Luke Walker:

  4. Sarah Champion gets her job back in 'extraordinary development'

    Norman Smith

    Assistant political editor

We've been talking this afternoon about this surprising news that Rotherham MP Sarah Champion is to be given her old front bench job back.

Apparently Jeremy Corbyn  agreed to the move  after she asked to be re-instated.

Ms Champion, who was a shadow Home Office minister, resigned the position last month along with most other Labour front benchers following a vote of no confidence in Mr Corbyn.

Our Assistant Political Editor, Norman Smith, says it's an "extraordinary development":

  5. Football: Experienced striker wanted by Port Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro

    Dan Wheeler

    BBC Sport

Port Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro says he wants to add former Nottingham Forest and Doncaster Rovers striker Nathan Tyson to his new-look squad.

Tyson, 34, who left Rovers following their relegation to League Two last season, is on trial with Vale.

Ribeiro has already signed 12 new players since taking over in June.

  6. MP gets her front bench job back

    Norman Smith

    Assistant political editor

    Sarah Champion

The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has agreed to give Labour MP Sarah Champion her front bench job back - after she asked to be re-instated.

Ms Champion - who was shadow office minister for Preventing Abuse and Domestic Violence - resigned the positon along with most other Labour front benchers following the vote of no confidence in Mr Corbyn.

However she has now asked Mr Corbyn asking for her job back. Mr Corbyn's office said the Labour leader had now written to "welcome her back."

The move will be seen a significant coup for Mr Corbyn and will fuel hopes that the revolt among Labour MPs may crumble.

  7. Latest on police weapons amnesty

    Katie Galbraith

    Local Live, BBC Sheffield

Seven shotguns and 300 rounds of ammunition have been handed in to South Yorkshire Police.

The deposits are part of an amnesty which means anyone who hands in weapons before Monday 1 August will not be prosecuted for possession.

It's not just shotguns that police are looking to recover - you can also hand in air weapons, BB guns, handguns, antique firearms, imitation firearms, ammunition, samurai swords, machetes, switchblades and daggers.

  10. Watch: Crowdfunding campaign aims to recreate iconic scissor design

    Katie Galbraith

    Local Live, BBC Sheffield

I mentioned earlier a campaign to start re-making a vintage brand of Sheffield scissors.

Ernest Wright and Sons want to bring back their iconic "Kut-rite" design.

They were hoping to raise £60,000 with their Kickstarter campaign, but have already reached more than £150,000.

They've been speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield about their scissors, but I thought you might like to see this video of a "putter" - yes, you guessed it: he puts together their scissors.
