His Bourne co-star Julia Stiles revealed the 2007 meeting to GQ while being interviewed for its Encyclopedia of Matt Damon issue.
She told the magazine:"After The Bourne Ultimatum came out, there was a premiere in London. Prince actually came to it, then got tickets for the cast to come see him [perform].
"We were summoned into a room to meet him [after the show]. Matt said, 'So you live in Minnesota? I hear you live in Minnesota.'"
Prince's reply was apparently: "I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon."

Earth, Wind and Fire condemn political use of their music

Bad day to be a music fan and a Republican.
Following Queen's criticism of Donald Trump's use of their song We are the Champions (scroll down to read), now disco veterans Earth, Wind and Fire have also expressed disappointment one of their songs was used at the Republican party convention.
The 7-inch disc features Sir Paul singing the song It's For You, which he and fellow Beatle John Lennon had written for their Liverpudlian mate Cilla - who died last year.
Her version peaked at number seven in the charts.
The disc, which had been mistakenly labelled with Cilla's name, will go on sale on Saturday, 27 August at a Beatles auction at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and is expected to fetch between £15,000 and £20,000.

Mary J Blige and Maxwell have been added to the lineup for the BluesFest event happening at London's O2 in October.
The duo will headline the Friday night (28 October) as part of their King and Queen of Hearts World Tour.
It will be R&B star Maxwell’s first London show for almost a decade.
Paul Rodgers’ rock supergroup Bad Company, featuring Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora, are Saturday night's headliners, while Jeff Beck and Van Morrison headline the Sunday.
There's also going to be a special one-off Bill Wyman 80th birthday concert featuring Mark Knopfler, Bob Geldof, Imelda May and Mick Hucknall.
Last Shadow Puppets in awe of being joined on stage by Johnny Marr

They may seem like two of the coolest men in music but The Last Shadow Puppets aka Alex Turner and Miles Kane have revealed playing with Johnny Marr has been one of the highlights of their summer.
They were joined on stage by The Smith's guitarist in Manchester last week.
Unsurprisingly, they are both huge fans - what is surprising is how they contacted him.
They told Jo Whiley all about it when they stopped by her show to perform:

Tom Petty unveils new video starring Anthony Hopkins
Tom Petty's band Mudcrutch (the band he was in before Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) are not messing around with their new video, which stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and is directed by Petty fan Sean Penn.
The I Forgive It All video sees Hopkins driving through the rich and poverty-stricken areas of Los Angeles from Sunset Boulevard to downtown's Skid Row, while reminiscing about his childhood.
The track features on Mudcrutch's album 2, which came out in May and follows an album released together when they reformed in 2008.
The band - which also features Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and guitarist Mike Campbell - originally released just one single Depot Street, before splitting in 1975.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Penn revealed he was particularly taken with I Forgive It All when he heard 2 just before it was released.
"The song made such an impression on me. So much of it was going to be about what the actor was holding in his head," he said.
"I didn't want to even articulate the story so much. I had a little backstory for myself, but I just wanted to shoot this in the way that wouldn't bury the song."
Sigur Ros give fans a 360 degree tour of Iceland

Last month we told you about Icelandic band Sigur Ros' Route One, a 24-hour 'slow TV' event that allowed fans to take a trip around the road that circles Iceland, set to a stretched version of their single Óveður.
Now the band have uploaded a series of 360° videos of the same trip to YouTube, enabling people to explore the Icelandic countryside in full rotation from exactly where they're sat now.
The band has also launched a Route One app, which allows users to tinker with the track Óveður for themselves.

Beyonce may be playing massive stadiums around the world but her Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams played in no less an important venue last night when she joined the BBC's Gospel Prom.

Zoë Kravitz’s band Lolawolf have enlisted the help of famous friend and collaborator Miley Cyrus for new single Teardrop.
Having previously featured in a video for the US band, who are currently working on their second album, Miley's harmony and backing vocals can be heard throughout the spacey track.
It debuted on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show on Apple Music, and you can listen to it and the band's interview on Hypetrak.
The band also shared the single's artwork online, which features an image of "hot criminal" Jeremy Meeks who landed a modelling contract after his mugshot went viral.

We always knew he was an old romantic at heart... Marilyn Manson has announced his new album will be released on Valentine's Day - 14 February - next year.
The shock rocker - who won the Icon Award at the Alternative Press Music Awards earlier this week - says his 10th album will be called Say10 (...like Satan. Geddit?).
Manson is currently on tour in the US in support of 2015 album The Pale Emperor.

Salsa star Marc Anthony, better known on these shores as the former Mr Jennifer Lopez, has been named the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.
The five-time Latin Grammy and two-time Grammy winner - who has sold more than 12m albums worldwide - will be honoured on 16 November in Las Vegas, on the eve of the Latin Grammys.
He said in a statement: "I was ecstatic when I received the news.
"It is an honour and I am humbled to be selected as The Person of Year recipient for my contributions as a music ambassador and my humanitarian efforts."
He is co-founder of the Maestro Cares Foundation, which offers help to impoverished children in Latin America.

The long-awaited return of rap legends De La Soul is well underway with the release of a new track Royalty Capes.
It has been taken form their new crowd-funded album and the Anonymous Nobody...which is due out on 26 August.
The album also features Snoop Dogg, David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Usher, Little Dragon, Estelle, Pete Rock, 2 Chainz and Jill Scott.
After years embroiled in a legal battle with producer Dr Luke and Sony, Kesha has announced she will play a long-awaited seven-date US tour next month as part of a new music project.
She says fans will get to hear her new "dirty rock & roll and country" sound when she performs as Kesha and the Creepies.
The singer (who should probably wash her mouth out with soap after naming her tour something we can't repeat here) announced the gigs on Instagram in a poster that sees the singer standing in front of a tiger with a mouth covered in blood.
"I thrive from making and performing music, and much like a flower with no sun, my soul slowly dies when I don't get to create and perform," she told fans.
"So, for a short ride and in mostly intimate venues, I will be performing a new creepy creation. It's been too long."
However, due to the ongoing legal battle, Kesha added:

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has moved into the TV arena with the news that her production company has signed a deal with US network NBC Universal to make "original content" for them.
The website of record company Beggars Group - which includes indie labels Matador, Rough Trade, XL Recordings and Young Turks - has been hacked, with the possibility that customers' details have been leaked.
A letter sent by Beggars' US distributor Matador Direct said orders placed through its website between 28 April 2015 and 4 May 2016 may have been breached by hackers.
Artists that have released music on Beggars Group labels include Adele, Radiohead, Vampire Weekend, the xx, and St Vincent.
The letter said: "We quickly began an investigation and hired a third-party cybersecurity firm to assist us."
It added that information "including the customer’s name, address, phone number, email address, payment card number, expiration date and security code (CVV), and account password for the website on which the customer placed an order, may have been obtained by an unauthorized third-party."
We are waiting for comment on whether UK customers have been affected by the breach.

Queen have used Twitter to reassure fans that Donald Trump's use of their track We Are the Champions at the Republican Convention was "unauthorised" and "against our wishes".
They've also issued a statement through their publishing company:
Quote Message: We are frustrated by the repeated unauthorized use of the song after a previous request to desist, which has obviously been ignored by Mr Trump and his campaign. Queen does not want its music associated with any mainstream or political debate in any country. Nor does Queen want We are the Champions to be used as an endorsement of Mr Trump and the political views of the Republican Party. We trust, hope and expect that Mr Trump and his campaign will respect these wishes moving forward.

However, as we reported back in February when Adele's Rolling in the Deep got the Trump treatment, it seems that US copyright laws give politicians carte blanche to use recorded music at their rallies - as long as the venue has a public performance licence.

'Lost' Paul McCartney recording to be auctioned off
A previously "lost" demo which Sir Paul McCartney sent to Cilla Black is to be auctioned next month.
