Man left with fractured skull after serious assault in Hull city centre

A 20-year-old man was walking in the direction of Whitefriargate from a night club when an unknown person approached him from behind and threw a burger at him.
The victim turned around to challenge the offender and was punched in the head which caused him to fall and fracture his skull.
A 30-year-old Doncaster man sustained serious head injuries after he and his friends were assaulted outside Yardbirds Club in Grimsby by a group of men wearing leather jackets.
Humberside Police want to speak to the man pictured following the serious assault which happened at approximately 22:15 on Saturday, May 14.
The Bransholme estate in Hull is about to welcome a unusual set of residents in the form of eight giant metallic monks.
The new art installation will see a group of eight foot metallic monks installed across Wawne Road in time for the City of Culture year.

Council to spend £7.6m replacing A18 Melton Ross bridge

North Lincolnshire Council has drawn up plans for the design and construction of the new railway bridge on A18 Melton Ross (pictured) which is expected to be installed as early as 2018 at a cost of £7.6m.
In 2014 inspectors found the bridge was too weak to hold the traffic it used to hold so temporary traffic restrictions were put in place to deal with the problem.
Virgin Trains has added an extra return service to London to help fans of Hull FC enjoy their big day out at the Challenge Cup Final.
Hull FC will play against Warrington Wolves at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 27 August in what is one of the biggest dates on the British sporting calendar.

Virgin Trains will operate an additional return service departing Hull on 27 August at 07.50 and the return service will depart the capital at 19.48.

Congestion hotspots in North East Lincolnshire have been identified in a newly revised local transport plan.
The hotspots include Scartho Road and the Peaks Parkway in Grimsby but not Nuns Corner roundabout (pictured) where the council's thinking of putting traffic lights.

Former drilling site near Beverley restored to agricultural land

A redundant exploratory drilling site in East Yorkshire has been restored to its previous state as agricultural land.
The Environment Agency has accepted the surrender of the environmental permit for the well site at Crawberry Hill, near Beverley, after Rathlin Energy UK Ltd decided to stop using the borehole.
Organisers of Grimsby's first 10K say it was a great showcase for the town

About 2,000 runners took part in the 10K race around the streets of the North East Lincolnshire town yesterday.
There had been some complaints about the number of road closures but organisers have told us they tried to give people as much notice as possible but with such an event there was bound to be some disruption.
Newland Avenue in Hull is closed in both directions between the B1233 Cottingham Road junction and the Lambton Street junction, because of an accident.

Rathlin Energy has been granted another permit to explore for oil and gas in West Newton.
The new site will be called West Newton B the company has previously drilled at another location nearby which they called West Newton A . The red dot below shows you where the new site will be:

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the serious assault near Monument Bridge (pictured) in Hull between 03:20 and 03:40am on Monday 30 May.

Humberside Police want to speak to the man pictured following the serious assault which happened at approximately 22:15 on Saturday, May 14.
Officers leading the investigation are keen to speak to the man in the photo or anyone who can help identify him.

Man suffers cuts to neck and ear during assault in Scunthorpe

A 47-year-old man was assaulted on Saturday afternoon on Frodingham Road by two men after he was unable to tell them the whereabouts of another man.
The first suspect is described as being white, of medium build, around 6ft 3in tall, with short, dark brown hair and the second was also white, in his 30s, of slim build, around 6ft 3in tall with blonde hair.
