  2. Watch: Thermae Bath Spa, before and after

It's the only place in the country you can bathe in hot spring waters, but when the city's old spa baths closed in the late 70s thousands of years of thermal history in Bath appeared to end.

So in 1996 the council decided to build a new spa.

A spiraling budget and delayed opening mean it's not been without its critics, but today it celebrated its 10th anniversary and this video compares the old with the new.

  9. Hidden Brunel bridge vaults opened up

Hidden chambers discovered under the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol are open to the public for the first time.

The 12 vaulted chambers were found in 2002, nearly 160 years after the crossing was opened in Bristol.

For decades it was assumed the massive two-storey structures which support the bridge towers were solid stone or filled with stone.

Now, after drilling through 2m (6.5ft) stonework and installing a doorway, two chambers have been opened for tours.
