A lack of firepower from Town's midfield has been a bone of contention among supporters for several years now.

"With me, if I get one I get a few," Bishop told BBC Suffolk. "That's always been me in my career but hopefully I can get quite a few goals this season."

"Maybe us midfielders haven't scored enough goals. We do a lot of shooting practice in training so, all of us, we need to step up this year and score a few goals."

Members of the lottery syndicate in Bury St Edmunds who have won £1m on the Lotto received the news with "utter, utter amazement", says the man who runs it.

    Milburn Centre Syndicate

Martin Cribb said: "Firstly, they thought obviously I was winding them up.

"The first impression I got was that everyone thought that we'd won £50,000, which was going to be £2,500 each and I actually said 'No, we've won a million so work it out' and then they worked it out and they said '£50,000' and I said 'Yes'."

  6. BreakingFirefighters tackle chemical spill at Haverhill factory

    Andy Northcote

After losing their last three matches Sudbury batsman Nathan Poole, who's been unavailable of late, returns in place of all-rounder Jack Beaumont.

Coach Andy Northcote (pictured): "Hopefully by playing the extra batter, the batting unit will kick-start from ball one and produce the collective innings they are capable of. Then we can then push for the win instead of playing catch-up cricket."

  8. Three anniversaries celebrated in Woodbridge

    Major Jack Crossley

Speaking before the parade, Maj Jack Crossley said it's been a special relationship: "It's a real privilege to have that link with the town.

"We have events over at the Barracks as well, indeed it's our open day tomorrow which everyone's invited to and we just continue to forge those links with the town."

    Milburn Centre Syndicate

Martin Cribb, who manages the 20-strong Milburn Centre Syndicate, said the winning ticket had become crumpled in the machine when he was checking it.

He said it couldn't be read, so he took it home and left it in the kitchen until his wife tried again a few days later and then rang him at work.

"I was a bit short with her – I was in the middle of finishing up some grouting at work and didn’t want it ruined – so didn’t call her back and check the details until my work was finished. Going back to my desk and logging on, I filled in the code and couldn’t believe what I was seeing, £1m.”

    Brenner Woolley

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Suffolk coach Andy Northcote has paid tribute to captain Tom Huggins (pictured) who'll make his last three-day appearance for the county in Sunday's game against Staffordshire.

    Tom Huggins

“He has served his adopted county with such pride that it is a real honour for me to have witnessed this past year. He is always the first to a game and generally the last to leave."

“He is a man that never stops thinking, tweaking and wanting us to be the best Suffolk can be.

“His determination, drive, passion and commitment to Suffolk cricket is a clear to see for all and will have hopefully rubbed off on the players around him."

  13. Ipswich Town: Teddy Bishop on his 'roller-coaster' career to date

    Brenner Woolley

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

He's been a professional footballer less than two years but Ipswich Town midfielder Teddy Bishop's already experienced the highs and lows of the game.

    Teddy Bishop

After a sparkling first campaign saw him linked with a move to the Premier League, last season the 20-year-old made just two starts because of injury.

"Two years in and it's been a rollercoaster already," said Bishop. "I'll learn from it, I'm stronger now. I've had one good season and one off season. Hopefully this can be a good one."

    Brenner Woolley

The 20-year-old told BBC Suffolk Sport: "My team as a kid was Spurs. It comes from my Dad, who was a Spurs fan and a season ticket holder for 20 years.

“That’s where my name comes from, Teddy Sheringham was my Dad’s hero and named me after him. I used to watch videos of him and I wouldn’t mind scoring goals like he used to.”

  15. Ipswich Town: Final friendly is important - Mick McCarthy

    Brenner Woolley

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy's keen for his players to put on a show in their last pre-season game at Portman Road tomorrow.

    Mick McCarthy

He believes a good performance, and hopefully a win over Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, will boost fans morale and interest ahead of the new season.

"It's important the people who come and see us are excited by us," McCarthy said.

"We need to entertain them, enthuse them, to get them back through the doors wanting to watch us. And it'd be nice to go into the Barnsley game off the back of a win."

  16. Ipswich Town: McCarthy wants strikers to nail down their places

    Brenner Woolley

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy's challenging his forwards to make sure he can't leave them out of his first eleven.

    Mick McCarthy

Last season, partly because of injuries, McCarthy rotated his four senior strikers, but this season he's hoping he doesn't have to do that.

"It's up to them to nail it down isn't it?" he told BBC Suffolk Sport.

"I wouldn't have mixed and matched it the year before when Daryl Murphy scored 27, and when David McGoldrick was flying. If they're scoring they'll stay in the team."

  17. Sir Alf wasn't 'properly celebrated'

Pat Godbold, who worked as a secretary to Sir Alf Ramsey during his time as manager of Ipswich Town, says she doesn't think he was properly celebrated.

She says she's "thought back over the years", and doesn't remember any flowers or scarves being left at Portman Road when he died on 28 April 1999.

    Pat Godbold

She also recalls how Sir Alf would never discipline players in front of anyone else. She said if someone played badly he'd wait until the Monday to say anything to them, asking to "have a word" with them in his office when they arrived at the ground.
