Harrogate Borough Council is asking residents to give their views on the future of its Council Tax reduction scheme for people of working age.

York City striker Vadaine Oliver has completed a loan move to Notts County, the Minstermen have confirmed.

The 24-year-old has signed a six-month deal with the Magpies, which will see him remain at Meadow Lane until Saturday 7 January 2017.

Oliver signed a two-year deal with the Minstermen last summer, but has fallen out of favour with manager Jackie McNamara.

There are calls for more people to get CPR training, after two passers-by saved a woman who'd collapsed in the street in Scarborough using the lifesaving technique. 

Helen McBain (pictured) told BBC Radio York she's "lucky to be alive" after her heart stopped for almost an hour.

Michelle Ireland and Louise Harwood carried out CPR on Helen for 50 minutes before she was taken to hospital. Her heart stopped another three times en route. 

Louise says more people need to have CPR training, including children.

Lucy Wilkinson, a senior cardiac nurse with the British Heart Foundation, says anybody can perform the chest compression and rescue breaths of CPR, which keep blood and oxygen circulating in the body.

A Pudding chef in New Zealand has created the first ice cream cone to be made out of a Yorkshire pudding.

Chef Giapo, says his latest creation is a "mash-up" of the traditional Sicilian Brioche con Gelato - a brioche bun stuffed with a smear of ice cream - and good old Yorkshire pud.

Whitby has been ranked eighth most expensive seaside resort in the UK, in a survey by an online site which helps people find affordable accommodation.

The survey compared prices in 30 coastal destinations.

The results were compiled based on the average price for the cheapest available double room in a hotel or guest house during the month of August. 

The town of St Ives in Cornwall was rated as most expensive, with an average daily rate for the cheapest double room of £164.

Blackpool came in at cheapest, with a charge of £42 for the average double room.

After almost 10 years, York's Bike Rescue Project is to close, it's been announced.

The charity refurbishes bikes, carries out services and repairs, and provides training to unemployed people.

It says it's closing because of the "current financial climate" for small charities and has thanked everyone who raised money and supported their work over the past decade.

York City Knights Rugby League Club will play their Super 8s game against Barrow on Sunday at Bootham Crescent with a 14:00 kick-off.

A joint statement from City of York Council and York City says the game can be held at this time, despite initially looking at staging it the previous day. 

The Knights were threatened with closure 10 days ago, after the board said they were to close the business

But, after talks with the Rugby Football league chairman John Guildford, agreed to run the club until the end of the season while talks with a potential buyer continue.

York Minster has been awarded a grant of over £150,000 from the Arts Council to develop its Historic Collections. 

The collections include objects covering more than 2,000 years of life at the Minster, including a prayer book once used by Katherine of Aragon, silks gifted to Queen Victoria by the Emperor of China and a silver crucifix owned by Tsar Nicolas II of Russia.

The Minster is eligible for the funding because it's the only cathedral in the country with Accredited Museum status.  

Vicky Harrison, head of collections at York Minster, says, "Cathedrals across the country house the most amazing objects, artefacts and items of ecclesiastical interest which are mostly hidden from public view."

New pumps to get rid of flood waters are due to arrive in Tadcaster today.

They've been bought following the devastation in the town over Christmas, where the main road bridge collapsed into the rising River Wharfe.

I've been in the town today and saw the new stone and the framework for the new arches for the bridge arriving.

North Yorkshire County Council says that, one year on, they're all on track for the bridge to be finished this December. 

The A19 at Easingwold has re-opened and traffic is beginning to move again after an accident which closed the road southbound between Thirsk and York.

The latest headlines from our newsroom in York include:

A man caught on CCTV after a woman was punched and spat at in a bar in York is being sought by North Yorkshire Police. The attack took place in Revolution on Coney Street in the city centre shortly before 01:00 on Sunday 15 May.

Police say a man thumped the victim and spat in her face before leaving the bar.Officers say they want to identify the man pictured, and would also like to hear from anyone else who witnessed the incident.

Two people involved in the rescue of a woman from Scarborough have told BBC Radio York they're "shocked she survived".

Helen McBain collapsed with a heart attack in the town centre after suffering a "massive heart attack" in the street, and had further heart attacks in the air ambulance on the way to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Luckily two passers-by who work at the North Yorkshire 5-19 Healthy Child Service were in Scarborough town centre and came across Helen.

Michelle Ireland (pictured right) and Louise Harwood (on the left) carried out CPR on Helen centre) for almost an hour.      

Michelle says: "Louise and I are really quite shocked she's survived, especially in the community as it’s quite unheard of. 

"I think she was one tough lady and Louise and I were determined not to give up."

As new pumps to get rid of flood waters arrive in Tadcaster today, more volunteers are being asked to sign-up to help with flooding in the town in the future.

The town was severely flooded and its main road bridge collapsed during the Boxing Day floods last year.
