    Earlier we brought you news that police had clocked a motorist travelling at 160mph during a speed check in Cambridgeshire at the weekend.

    Police said the speed was one of the highest it had recorded in the county, but is it the highest in England?

  3. Weather: A sunny end to the day - much of the same tomorrow

    There'll be plenty of sunshine to end the day and then a dry night with some isolated mist and fog patches.

    Tomorrow will be another fine and dry day with plenty of sunshine.

    Temperatures are expected to climb to about 23C (73F). It will be a few degrees cooler on the coast with an on-shore easterly wind, light to moderate in strength.

  4. Statement from housing group regarding car park door death

    We've just had a statement from housing group Luminus, which manages the Ruth Bagnall Court in Cambridge.

    Earlier we reported a woman died yesterday after being involved in an incident with an automatic car park door.

    The statement says: "Staff were on site within 30 minutes to assist the police with their enquiries.

    "While the investigation by the police and Health and Safety Executive is under way, it would be inappropriate to comment any further.

    "Luminus Group wishes to express its deepest sympathies to the family of the person who sadly died yesterday."

  5. UKIP leadership hopeful doesn't 'fear' a Farage comeback

    UKIP leadership contender Lisa Duffy has responded to hints that Nigel Farage may want to take charge of UKIP once more.

    "Nigel will always want to pull the strings, but the next leader will have to be someone very different," said the Ramsey councillor.

    Ms Duffy insisted she has the political experience to take on the party's top job, having been its director for five years, and says she wants to give UKIP members the "grassroots option".

  6. 'It's good to know the guy is off the streets'

    A footballer who lost both legs in a hit-and-run crash has spoken out about the driver responsible. 

    Newmarket Town's Shaun Whiter was helping friend Joey Abbs, a Soham Town Rangers player, change a tyre near Newmarket when his legs were crushed by an oncoming vehicle.

    Jan Adamec, 40, of Haverhill, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He is on remand and will be sentenced in September.

    Mr Whiter also told BBC Look East about his hopes of reaching the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.  

  7. Woman dies in car park door incident

    A woman has died in an accident involving an automatic car park door.

    The woman, in her 40s, died at about 19:30 on Sunday at a block of flats at Ruth Bagnall Court, Cambridge.

    As reported in the Cambridge News, she got into difficulty with the automatic shutter doors at the entrance to an underground car park. The woman died at the scene, the ambulance service said.

    Housing group Luminus, which manages the block, has not yet commented on the incident.

    Police said the accident had been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.

  10. Posh will 'put things right'

    Away from the Olympics, Grant McCann is confident Peterborough will "put things right" against Millwall tomorrow night.

    Posh suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bradford on Saturday, ensuring that Grant McCann tasted defeat as manager for the first time in his seventh game at the helm.

  11. Louis Smith responds to criticism

    Peterborough's silver medal-winning Louis Smith has responded to claims he refused to congratulate his team-mate after being pipped to gold in the pommel horse.

    Speaking to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Smith said he "didn't want to react too quickly to anything that was going on" and that he needed a moment to himself.

  12. Police to talk to level crossing crash man

    A man seriously injured when his vehicle was hit by a train on a level crossing remains in hospital, police have told us.

    The driver of a 4x4 was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital after the accident near Stretham on Friday afternoon.

    British Transport Police said the man was in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be either life-threatening or life-changing.

    Officers said they are planning to speak with him. Statements from the train driver and witnesses have already been taken.

  13. Smith wants to perform in Tokyo, despite admitting it's 'back end' of his career

    Louis Smith, who trains at Huntingdon Gym, says he has taken some time to get his head around yesterday's result.

    The 27-year-old won silver on the pommel horse in Rio, beaten to gold by team-mate Max Whitlock. 

    "I'm coming to the back end of my career, and it's unlikely that I'll be in better shape in future competitions," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. But added he still wanted to "carry on for Tokyo".

  14. UKIP leadership hopeful Lisa Duffy gains support of London MEP

    UKIP leadership contender Lisa Duffy has won the backing of Gerard Batten, one of the party's London MEPs. 

    He said the Ramsey councillor will have a wider appeal among ordinary voters and the party needs a leader who can concentrate on winning Westminster elections.

  15. Louis Smith wants to 'carry on for Tokyo'

    We've just heard from gymnast Louis Smith that he would like to "carry on for Tokyo". 

    The silver medal winner told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire he thinks he can maintain his current level of fitness for the next Olympics in four years' time.

  16. Motorcyclist clocked travelling at 160mph on A47

    We've got more details on this picture that the Beds, Cambs & Herts Roads Policing Unit tweeted yesterday.

    Police were carrying out speed checks when they recorded the motorcyclist travelling at more than twice the speed limit.

    They say 160mph is thought to be one of highest speeds ever recorded in the county.

    PC Dave Black said: "The motorcyclist was travelling horrendously fast. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be travelling at such speeds on public roads."
