  10. UKIP party chairman defends executive after resignations

    Alex Rhodes

    BBC Lincolnshire Live

We told you earlier that Lincolnshire County Councillor Victoria Ayling has resigned from her post on the National Executive Committee of UKIP, following the decision to exclude Steven Woolfe from the upcoming leadership race.

In a letter Ayling and two others said the NEC's reputation had been "permanently damaged" by the decision.

Now the party chairman has entered the infighting to defend the committee.

Quote Message: The rule was specific - your nomination paperwork had to have been received by our general secretary by twelve noon on Sunday. It wasn't - it didn't come in until 12.17 - so what the NEC then had to consider was whether it would be prepared to bend, flex those rules on account of Stephen Woolfe and actually I don't think the NEC felt comfortable with doing that. from Paul Oakdon UKIP Party Chairman

  12. 'I’m proud that he is part of the history of the Cathedral'

    Alex Rhodes

    BBC Lincolnshire Live

I told you earlier about Susan Taylor, the woman who discovered lost photos of her Grandfather helping to build a water tank in the grounds of Lincoln Cathedral.

She says she was thrilled to make the find:

Quote Message: My Granddad always had such interesting stories to tell of Lincoln during the war and the jobs he was called out to all those years ago. His brigade was also called down to London to support the overwhelmed local fire brigades down there during the Blitz. I’m proud that he is part of the history of the Cathedral and the photographs capture a team working together to help protect our precious Cathedral which was the last landmark our airmen saw as they left the county and the first on their return. from Susan Taylor

  16. BreakingLincolnshire Councillor resigns from UKIP national executive in protest

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

You may have seen that one of the candidates hoping to take over from Nigel Farage as leader of UKIP, Steven Woolfe, has been deemed ineligible to stand as a result of a late submission.false

    Steven Woolfe

Lincolnshire County Councillor Victoria Ayling has cited this as a "recent example in a long list of decisions that betray a growing factionalism critical of the party's previous leadership and those loyal to it."

In a letter Ayling and two other members of the party resigned from their positions on UKIP's executive committee saying they "can no longer be part of a ruling executive whose reputation is now permanently damaged".

Quote Message: Steven Woolfe is a popular candidate among UKIP's members and should be permitted to represent those that wish to vote for him. To purposefully trawl for technicalities upon which to base a decision to deny his inclusion is not in the best interests of the membership and truly injurious to UKIP. from Letter to UKIP NEC Signed by Victoria Ayling, Raymond Finch MEP and Michael McGough
