British Transport Police say a young black man was the victim of an extremely offensive racist gestures made by a man and a woman on a train at 23:00 on Saturday 23 of July.

The train travelling between Chapeltown and Wombwell was packed with people travelling back from the Tramlines festival.

The man police want to trace is described as 6ft tall, of stocky build with receding short, greying, ginger hair. He was sun-burnt and wearing a short sleeved shirt.

The woman involved was white, aged around 50, approximately 5ft 7ins in height with a tanned complexion and shoulder length white blonde hair.

Anyone who can help is asked to call the BTP.

A charity says local Championship football clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley are failing to provide enough spaces for disabled fans.

Revitalise, the charity that conducted the research, found that the clubs fail supporters who require wheelchair spaces by not even providing half of the spaces that they should.

There's an outbreak of a fish disease at the Aston Park Fisheries in South Yorkshire.

Health inspectors Cefas have now implemented controls to halt the spread of the Koi Herpes Virus known as KHV.

They say there are no concerns for human health but it is a serious viral disease for fish which affects all varieties of common and ornamental carp.

Drones are now being used to inspect the outside of churches, meaning they don't have to pay for expensive scaffolding.

The drones have cameras on so the contractors can see if any work needs to be done before actually getting up there.

Cloud will soon build again, with scattered showers likely to develop. These possibly heavy, thundery and prolonged during the late afternoon.

Following a man being hit by a train near Wakefield, alternative travel options have been put in place to minimize disruption on the network.

CrossCountry passengers are able to use Northern services between Sheffield and Leeds via Wakefield Kirkgate.

Earlier this afternoon, at about 12:15, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to a fire at Hatfield Woodhouse, Doncaster.

Early reports suggested it was a coal shed that was alight at HMP Linderholme.

It later turned out to be a furniture store outside the prison's boundary wall.

At its height, seven fire crews tackled the fire and dramatic pictures show smoke billowing into the sky.

About two hours after it had started, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze was under control and crews remained on site to dampen down the remains of a shed.

There were no reported injuries and an investigation into the cause of the fire is getting underway.

A man has died after being hit by a train near Wakefield. 

It happened close to Fitzwilliam Station at about 14:00 today.

Police say they are working to identify the man and inform his family and that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The incident is causing delays of up to two hours on train journeys  between Doncaster, Sheffield and Leeds.

There's queuing traffic, long delays and two lanes closed due to accident on A1 Doncaster By-Pass Northbound between A1(M) J38 and A639.

There's also congestion on the M18 to J2 A1(M)

Emergency services are dealing with an incident near South Kirby, causing delays of up to two hours to journeys between Doncaster/Sheffield and Leeds.

There is replacement transport between Doncaster/Swinton and Wakefield Westgate 

Delays are expected to continue until 16:30.  

Six fire engines are at the scene of a building fire next to HMP Prison Lindholme.

A large furniture storage building, outside the boundary wall of the prison, has been destroyed by fire.

The fire is now under control and crews are damping down.

There are no reports of any casualties.
