Nearly 300 young sailors have spent the day off the Norfolk coast, competing in the National Youth Regatta.

For the first time in its 54-year history it's being held in Norfolk. 

The sailors, aged between 12 and 19, are representing 20 counties.

A small museum with large exhibits in south Norfolk needs volunteers.

The Norfolk Tank Museum at Forncett St Peter, near Long Stratton, says it's struggling to find people willing to give up their time and help show off its unique collection of tanks and armoured vehicles.

With more people visiting the museum last year, it opened up more frequently - but is warning it may have to go back to running fewer days a week unless volunteers come forward.

Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner Lorne Green is urging residents to share their views on how crime and disorder should be tackled over the next four years.

His public consultation closes on 12 August. So far, more than 2,000 people have shared their responses but Mr Green is keen to hear from those who live in Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn, West and North Norfolk.

Once the consultation closes, the details will be published on the Norfolk PCC website.

Mr Green will use the feedback received to develop Norfolk's police and crime plan, which sets out the county's overall crime and policing policies, the resources made available to the chief constable and how policing performance will be measured.

For Melvyn Shields, the sky's the limit when it comes to supporting animals.The 75-year-old from Norwich successfully completed a wing-walk to raise funds for the Retired Greyhound Trust.Not only was he supporting a cause close to his heart, it was a fantastic way to mark his 76th birthday two days later.  

Dumbbell weights, a trampoline and heart rate monitors are being used to help patients recovering from a heart attack or cardiac surgery.

They're among items purchased by the James Paget University Hospital following a donation to its Cardiac Rehabilitation Team from the HeartCare Great Yarmouth and Waveney Cardiac Support Group. 

The new equipment will be used at the physio gym at the hospital in supervised exercise sessions. 

Norfolk and Suffolk police forces have launched their newest tool to fight hate crime: a new "Pride" car.

The car, with its rainbow design, will take to the road on the week of Norwich Pride, as a sign of solidarity and commitment to the region's LGBT+ community.

Norfolk's Deputy Chief Constable Charlie Hall said the vehicle signified continued support for diverse communities and sent out a clear message that hate crime would not be tolerated.

He urged any victim of hate crime to contact the police. 

Neil Ramsay arrived at Sea Palling beach shortly before a group of swimmers got into trouble in a riptide.

A keen kitesurfer, he knows the beach and its tides well.

When the shout went out for strong swimmers Mr Ramsay borrowed a bodyboard, swimming out to help.

The chief executive of Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says it listened to the views of local people and adapted their proposals for the future of the Greyfriars walk-in centre as a result.

Andy Evans says the CCG is committed to providing an appointment-only out-of-hours service at Greyfriars during weekends and bank holidays. It say it is talking to other organisations about sharing the building, transforming it into a public service hub where local people can access a range of different services.

Eight motorists were reported for using their phones while driving in a 90-minute campaign by Norfolk police officers.

One of the offenders had their three-year-old son in the rear of the vehicle. Sgt Chris Harris said he then noticed the car stopped behind had a six-month-old baby on board.

Two drivers were reported for not wearing seatbelts. Four motorcyclists, who were in shorts and T-shirts, were given advice. 

Patients at the Jenny Lind children's department at the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital will be able to enjoy a little light relief when a new children's playground opens today.

Children and staff from the paediatric department helped decide on the final design, which features a beach hut and a "boat" play tower as a link to the unit's theme of the seaside.

Director of nursing Emma McKay said the playground would provide a "fun environment for paediatric patients and children visiting the hospital".  

Great Yarmouth's walk-in centre is to offer different health care services under proposals announced by the local clinical commissioning group:

• Enhance and promote the existing NHS 111 service, directing patients to the right service
• Appointment-only GP care at weekends and bank holidays
• Extra out-of-hours GPs to be put in place at the out-of-hours services at the James Paget University Hospital during weekends and bank holidays

The current homelessless service will still be in place from 1 October but will be delivered by a different provider.

Paddle-boarder Neil Ramsay says it took him about three minutes to swim out to help the group of swimmers caught in a riptide at Sea Palling on Saturday.

After dialling 999, Mr Ramsay took off his watch and T-shirt, and went out with a body board, bringing ashore a 54-year-old man.

Other beach-goers, including a doctor and an off-duty fireman, performed CPR on the man but he could not be revived.

A second swimmer, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital. 

A man who battled in vain to rescue a man at a Norfolk beach says he wants to encourage people to check if swimmers are ok if they hear shouting in a foreign language.

Mr Ramsay said a family of four were shouting in Polish but it was three minutes before he realised their shouts were of panic. "It would be great to have a universal cry for help", he said.
