  2. East Yorkshire WW2 veteran goes viral

    An East Yorkshire WW2 veteran has become an internet sensation across the world after telling his local barman that nobody was interested in his stories anymore. 

    That led to a Facebook post asking people to show support for 95-year-old Ted Fullerton:

    It's been seen by hundreds of thousands of people many of whom have sent him messages of support.

  5. Over 200 offenders tagged by Humberside Police in last 4 years

  6. New safety scheme for street outside Cleethorpes school

    Work on the traffic calming scheme in Chichester Road (pictured) is expected to take five weeks and is due to be completed by the end of the school holidays.

  7. Former councillor expelled from national Conservative Party

    The former East Riding Tory Councillor Dominic Peacock has been expelled from the national Conservative Party, after his case was considered by a disciplinary panel.

    He was thrown out of the East Riding Conservative Group in June after posting an offensive remark on Facebook about the late MP Jo Cox. 

  8. East Yorkshire photographers 'reputation ruined' by online abuse

    A couple from East Yorkshire who run a photography business say they've become the victims of an internet hate campaign after putting a picture of a fox hound on their Facebook page.

    Kristy and Alistair, who don't want their surname revealed, say their reputation has been damaged after allegations circulated online that they'd refused to refund the deposit of an anti-hunting bride. 

    The couple accept some people object to hunting but they say the claims being circulated are untrue and they worry the posts online about it, could destroy their business. 

  9. Humber tag fare dodgers face court action

    Since the Humber Tag was introduced in November, 6 million drivers have crossed the bridge and more than a third of them have used a tag.

    However, nearly 14,500 people used the fast lane without a tag 

    Most of these paid the £1.50 charge online later, but those who refuse to pay could face formal action, and be taken to court.

  10. Hull's first walking football club

    A group of people say they've set up Hull's first and only Walking Football Club based at Soccer Kings indoor 3G football centre.

    The Hull Pace Makers Walking Football Club is open to anyone who wants to get back into football and start playing regardless of their age, ability or experience.  

  11. Sport: Hull KR's Green out for season

    Hull KR prop James Green is ruled out for the rest of the season after having surgery on a shoulder injury.

    The 25-year-old, who has played 20 games for Rovers this term, dislocated his acromioclavicular (AC) joint in the 24-20 defeat by Leeds in July.

  14. Hull New Theatre regeneration affecting businesses

    We've been talking all morning about how improvement works to Hull New Theatre has been affecting business in that part of town. 

    Its after Dave got in touch to say he'd lost his job because the New Clarence pub closed down after it took a dip in trade and the landlord from the Hop and Vine says he'd like more events on that side of town.

    The council say they appreciate there will be disruption and want to thank businesses and residents for their support. They added that the theatre will reopen during Summer 2017 and it will be one of the most advanced in the country. 

  15. Charity litter pick in Hull

    Some unsung heroes have been picking up litter around the HU5 area to raise money for Dove House Hospice.

    They're taking part in the National Citizen Service run by the Tigers Trust which is a summer programme for young people encouraging them to help the local community.

    They were thinking of a way to raise money for a local charity and were inspired after our programme about the state of HU5.  

  16. Guy Martin to attempt world land speed record

    Northern Lincolnshire's Guy Martin is getting ready to go to America to try and break the world motorbike land speed record. 

    He'd been due to take up the challenge last year but it was postponed after he crashed during the Ulster GP in Northern Ireland.

  17. Sport: Chris Coleman wont be Hull City manager

    The Football Association of Wales have turned down an approach from Hull City to speak to Chris Coleman about their managerial vacancy. 

    Coleman is one of the candidates that Hull have targeted to replace Steve Bruce following his resignation last month.

    That leaves former Chelsea and Watford boss Gianfranco Zola as the clear favourite to take over from Steve Bruce at the KCOM Stadium. 

  18. Refurbishment starting at East Riding Leisure Goole

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that a £300,000 scheme to refurbish the Tone Zone at East Riding Leisure Goole is due to begin on Sunday 7 August.  

    The work is scheduled to take three weeks to complete.

  19. Plans progressing for Bridlington marina

    Good progress is being made progressing plans for a marina in Bridlington, according to the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce. 

    Members have been briefed by harbour officials.
