  1. Goodbye: Five things we learnt today

Thanks for being with us today, we'll be back at 07:00 tomorrow.

In the meantime, let's look back at five things we didn't know when we woke up this morning...

    1. Parts of Lancashire and Cumbria are now in the Yorkshire Dales - that's parts of other counties in a Yorkshire National Park. Unusual...
    2. Criminals are still regularly targetting rural parts of North Yorkshire for their ill-gotten gains
    3. Meanwhile, North Yorkshire Police are going to the dogs to fight crime
    4. It may have been a long time in the planning, but the first customers through the door at the new Scarborough water park were pretty impressed with what they found
    5. You probably need to be able to throw a giant Yorkshire Pudding over 34 metres if you want to pick up the top accolade at the annual Yorkshire pudding tossing competition

I'll leave you with this pic of the Yorkshire Declaration being read out in the centre of York with the Lord Mayor Dave Taylor looking on.

Have a reet good rest of day!

The sun may be finding it hard to shine in Scarborough today, but this picture sent to us by Giovanni Braida shows that people are still hoping to mark Yorkshire Day in traditional seaside style.

    BBC Sport

Less than 48 hours after it was confirmed that York City Knights will see out the League One season, they were beaten 46-16 by Toulouse.

However, after all the off-field turmoil of the past few weeks and the fact they could only take 14 fully-fit players across to France, coach James Ford hailed all of his players at full-time:

  12. Police to make life 'woof' for criminals

    David Ward

    BBC Local Live, York

North Yorkshire police are adopting a new approach to fighting crime.

They hope that by merging their dogs section with both the Durham and the Cleveland constabularies, not only will they get new "leads" but they will also save over £170,000 a year.

The move will also create a wider selection of dogs to choose from, some of which are trained for specific duties such as working in the countryside or in urban areas.

If you're desperately looking for somewhere to take the kids today, here's somewhere you might want to consider.

Plumpton Rocks, near Harrogate, re-opened at the weekend after being closed for a number of months following a three-year project costing £700,000.

  15. Yorkshire Dales expansion: 'It's finally come true'

    David Ward

    BBC Local Live, York

Throughout the day, BBC Radio York is getting reaction to the news that parts of Cumbria and Lancashire have today become part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Lets face it, if you were living in part of Lancashire, you're probably quite envious of God's Own County, so today's news will have you waking up with a smile.

Carl Lis, chairman of the national park, has told us why it's expanding by a huge 160 sq miles:

    Yorkshire Dales
Quote Message: If you live in the area and you see the landscape and iconic countryside, it becomes obvious why the expansion. It's something for which we've been lobbying for a good number of years - and it's finally come true." from Carl Lis National Park chairman

  16. Sport: Yorkshire in pole position to make One-Day Cup quarter-finals

    BBC Sport

There could be a nerve-wracking Yorkshire Day afternoon and evening for the county's cricket supporters.

Despite defeat at Durham yesterday, Yorkshire know a win over Warwickshire at Headingley tonight will see them claim a home quarter-final in the One-Day Cup.

    Headingley

However, with only the top four teams from the north group going through to the last eight, and despite currently sitting in top spot, they know defeat could prove to be the end of the road.

  17. Yorkshire Day: Do I look like a bit of a pudding with this on my head?

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Ey up! There are some days when I get asked to do some pretty random things - and today is certainly one of them.

This morning, I'm at York Maze to take part in their annual Yorkshire Pudding tossing competition.

I'm told that last year's winner managed to throw their pudding a huge 34 metres. Don't think I'll be beating that!
