    Environmental & Management Solution is a charity that does some fantastic work within the local community around Hull.

    This summer they're offering FREE... yes that's FREE cookery workshops.

    Open to everyone, the sessions are designed to be child-friendly so parents, grandparents and carers are encouraged to bring their children along and learn together.

    The idea is that you'll learn how to make simple meals that are inexpensive and easy to cook. Have a look at the details below.

  4. Latest headlines: Death confirmed following helicopter crash and Humberside police officers suffering with mental health

    Here are the latest headlines across East Yorkshire and the Humber:

    • The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has confirmed that one of the five men injured in a helicopter crash at Breighton airfield has died
    • One in ten Humberside Police officers are off work suffering with mental health illnesses like stress, the force has the third highest rate of this type of sickness
    • Five people were rescued by the RNLI last night after they were cut off by the tide at Flamborough

    A cloudy evening, with outbreaks of rain soon spreading across the area. 

    These turning persistent through the first half of the night, and also rather heavy in places, before clearing southeastwards through the early hours of Wednesday morning.

  6. Listen: North Landing described as 'hotspot' by the RNLI

    The RNLI in Flamborough is urging people to check the tide times this summer after they had to rescue five people who were stranded on some rocks. 

    The group got cut off by the tide on North Landing. 

    I spoke to the lifeboat charity earlier, they said this does happen a lot in this particular area.

  7. Police release CCTV images after man attacked in pub car park

    A man has suffered serious head injuries in a pub car park in Scunthorpe.

    Police have now released CCTV stills of three people who were walking by at the time of the altercation.  

    It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning at Queensway public house on Ashby Road. 

    It's believed the 32 year old was involved in a fight with a number of people beforehand. He's at Hull Royal Infirmary in a stable condition.

  11. BreakingAAIB confirm one person died following helicopter crash

    The Air Accident Investigation Branch has confirmed that one person involved in the helicopter crash at Breighton Airfield has died.   

    Five men were injured earlier this month when the helicopter they were in crashed as it came into land.

  12. Grimsby Town-Sheffield United football disorder plan 'failed miserably'

    Grimsby Town has said efforts to work with police to control disorder at a match, which left two police officers injured, "failed miserably".

    Glasses, bottles and other items were thrown after a pre-season friendly between the Mariners and Sheffield United on Saturday.

    Four people have been charged after the trouble at Blundell Park, Cleethorpes.

    Humberside Police said its officers were "brought on duty early to assist in the policing operation".

  13. Watch: Bus lane cameras catch out 25,000 drivers in Hull

    They were installed only a year ago but new bus lane cameras in Hull City Council have already brought in £600,000 worth of fines. 

    The eight cameras were installed on major routes into the city, and work only at peak times. Since then, 25,000 people have been caught using the bus lanes illegally. 

    I've been out on Anlaby Road in Hull, next to one of those bus lanes and spoke to Doug Sharp from Hull City Council.

    Earlier this morning the Chief Constable of Humberside Police, Justine Curran told BBC Radio Humbersde that a rise in crime figures can be a good thing. 

    The force saw a 9% increase in violent and sexual crimes recorded. The average national rise was 21%.

    Justine Curran says it means more people are reporting offences and that is something very positive

  18. Witness appeal following serious assault

    Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in the car park of the Queensway pub in Scunthorpe in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    It is believed the 32-year-old man was involved in a fight with a number of people prior to sustaining a serious head injury. 

    Officers are keen to locate anyone who witnessed the incident.

  19. New wildlife centre for East Yorkshire

    A new £600,000 wildlife viewing centre is being built at a nature reserve near Driffield to bolster its reputation as one of the best bird watching spots in Britain. 

    Tophill Low nature reserve, lies alongside the River Hull and is made up of a patchwork of woodland, marshland and grassland which provide a sanctuary for over 160 types of birds.

    The centre is due to open next summer with a new elevated view point over the reservoir, viewing gallery, telescopes and real time webcam footage showing live scenes from the reserve. 

    It's hoped that the new attraction will boost visitor numbers and add value to the tourism sector in East Yorkshire. 

  20. Flamborough RNLI rescues five people

    Flamborough RNLI attended a report of what was thought to be three people cut off by the tide at North Landing. On approach it was apparent the casualties amounted to five people.

    Luckily thanks to the sterling work the RNLI do, no one was injured and everyone returned to shore safely.
