Overnight weather: Scattered showers perhaps locally heavy

Some clear spells, but often cloudy tonight with a few scattered showers, perhaps locally heavy. Temperatures will dip to 13C (55F).

Early showers will fade and there'll be breaks in the cloud tomorrow to give some good sunny spells. There will still be a risk of a few isolated but locally heavy showers developing during the afternoon and evening. Top temperature: 23C (73F) inland.

Essex Police was called to Layer Road, Colchester following reports of a man thought to resemble a man depicted in an e-fit following the RAF Marham attempted abduction
The barracks seemed to be operating as normal, and people were seen entering and leaving
Norfolk Police said it was "satisfied" that the reported sighting was not linked to its investigation

Essex Police statement on Colchester incident
We've just had this through from Essex Police.
The force said: "Police were contacted shortly before 09:00 with reports of a man seen in Layer Road, Colchester, who was thought to resemble the man depicted in the e-fit issued by Norfolk Constabulary in relation to the attempted abduction of a serviceman at RAF Marham. "Essex Police have been working with Norfolk Police who has confirmed that the sighting was not of the man in the e-fit."

Norfolk Police says it has liaised with Essex Police and is "satisfied" that a reported sighting of two men near Colchester barrack is not linked to their investigation into an attempted abduction at RAF Marham.

Colchester Garrison is home to 16 Air Assault Brigade which includes 2 Para and 3 Para.
