Roisin Murphy donned a Shakespearean ruff - and several other fitting accessories - to take to the stage at The Globe in London last night, the first time a contemporary artist has ever played live at the venue.

She brought Lauren Laverne's Wonder Women series to a close, and by all accounts it was a spectacular. 

Writing in the Evening Standard, David Smyth gave it four out of five stars, calling it "fabulously irreverent". 

He revealed Murphy "wrestled herself into endless outlandish outfits in front of the audience", adding: "This midsummer night’s dream was certainly weird, but a good one." 

Crystal Castles have unveiled their new track Fleece.

It was premiered last night on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show, and is taken from their forthcoming new album Amnesty (I).

The band will be playing the BBC Radio 1/NME Stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals later this month, before hitting tour dates in Europe and North America. 

Further UK shows will be announced soon.

Thousands of Elvis Presley fans have made their annual pilgrimage to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, for a candlelight vigil to mark the 39th anniversary of The King's death.

Fans flocked from around the world to walk through the grounds of his former home-turned-museum, despite bad weather.

Monday night's vigil is the culmination of Elvis Week, the annual celebration of his life and career.

It's been a gluttonous summer for Harry Potter fans. We've had the play and the book and now fans of the HP film series will have the chance to watch their favourite wizards on the big screen, soundtracked by a live symphony orchestra performing the movie's iconic soundtrack.

The Harry Potter Film Concert Series, which will begin with performances of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, kicks off a new concert tour.

Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ score.  

The tour begins at London's Royal Albert Hall and continues around the UK - here are the full dates for next May...

Our favourite angry supergroup Prophets Of Rage - made up of members of Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Rage Against The Machine - have announced details of a debut EP. 

The Party’s Over will be out later this month, with two new tracks coming later this week and next, according to Stereogum.

The five track EP will feature: 

01 Prophets of Rage02 The Party’s Over03 Killing in the Name (Live)04 Shut Em Down (Live)05 No Sleep Til Cleveland (Live)

The group's heading out on a US tour later this week, but there's no news of any UK dates yet.

In what's possibly the most random music story of the day, a Maui ukulele player who was released from jail to play a show with one of his heroes, reggae artist Matisyahu (pictured right), is back behind bars. 

Clint Alama (left), who is being held on a probation violation, was invited to perform at the LA show after Matisyahu stumbled upon him in a Maui coffee shop playing one his tracks on the ukulele.

Matisyahu started singing along to his hit One Day, while Alama was apparently oblivious to his singing partner's identity. 

Much bonding ensued. And after Matisyahu issued an invitation to play in California, a kind judge allowed Alama - who had turned himself in to police last week after a warrant was issued for his arrest - to fly to LA for the show on Friday night.

After tickets for Björk's Royal Albert Hall show quickly sold out, the Icelandic singer's announced an additional London show at Hammersmith's Eventim Apollo on 24 September. 

The gigs are her first in the capital since she released her album Vulnicura last year, following performances at the Manchester International Festival and Wilderness in 2015. 

London will also be home to the show Bjork: Digital next month, which opens at Somerset House on 1 September and includes a host of virtual reality videos, interactive apps and videos - including (our favourite) the chance to listen to Bjork's music inside her mouth.

BANKS has revealed the visuals for her new single, Gemini Feed.

The track is taken from her second full-length album, The Altar, released 30 September, and premiered as Annie Mac's Hottest Record at the beginning of August. 

BANKS' 2014 debut album Goddess became the “number one Most Blogged About Artist Globally – Mid Year & Year End 2014 Charts,” according to Hype Machine, in addition to seizing number one on Billboard’s Twitter Emerging Artists Chart and Trending Chart.

In other Bieber news (scroll down for the latest on his Instagram break-up), the singer is still doing battle with himself at the top of the UK singles chart. 

Last week he was at number one with Cold Water, his collaboration with Major Lazer and MØ, and at two with his DJ Snake track Let Me Love You - and there's no change in yesterday's chart update either. 

Meanwhile Blossoms chart reign could be short-lived after their debut was overtaken by All Over the World - The Very Best of ELO at the top of the album chart. 

This week's Official top 40 and album chart will be revealed by Greg James on Radio 1 on Friday from 16:00 BST. 

California duo Deap Vally simultaneously debuted their new track and a brand new word with Gonnawanna on Radio 1 last night, where it was Annie Mac's hottest record. 

It's a second taster of their forthcoming new album FEMEJISM (another new word coined by the band, we believe), after Smile More debuted on the show back in June. 

Due on the 16 September, the album's produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. 

But Lindsey told Annie that anthem-in-the-making Gonnawanna was one of the few tracks she and Julie produced themselves.

"We were just channelling some surf rock vibes when we wrote it," she said

"It sat around for a while, and then we picked it up again and kind of revamped it, rewrote some of it and finally just brought it to life, and just threw it on the record at the last minute. Honestly, it was the last position."

Pianist Stephen Hough has called for classical concerts to be overhauled to attract younger audiences.

Orchestras should drop their formal dress code, and play shorter concerts - "60 to 80 minutes of music" - with no interval.

His comments, which we reported here, have sparked a debate on Twitter.

"I respectfully disagree," says musician Chilly Gonzales. "It's not a quantity issue. It's about the people onstage. charisma, respect for the audience and realism about modern tastes."

But Lilliput Concerts, an ensemble which specialises in playing classical music to pre-school children, says shorter concerts are essential for their audiences.

"It's worked for us for over thee years," they say. "Sell out, un-dumbed classical concerts for families."

While Liam and Niall struggle with WhatsApp haters (scroll down for more), things are faring slightly better for another former 1D-er - well, depending on how much you love sand sculptures...

Zayn Malik has been honoured with a life-size statue of himself made out of 3.5 tonnes of the stuff in his hometown of Bradford. 

His proud mum Trisha Malik was pictured with the sculpture, which also caught the attention of Scott Mills and Entertainment reporter Steve Holden on Radio 1 this morning. 

Not everyone's convinced of the likeness though. Including us. Maybe they mixed up Zayn and former X Factor hopeful Christopher Maloney...?

Spoken word artist Kate Tempest has announced her new album, Let Them Eat Chaos, which will be released on 7 October. 

And the Londoner has posted an album trailer which showcases the album's artwork (designed by photomontage artist Peter Kennard).

The record is produced by Dan Carey (Nick Mulvey, Sia, Lianne La Havas) who produced her Mercury Prize-nominated 2014 record Everybody Down.

She's also confirmed that she'll be touring the UK in December.   

Earlier this year Kate entered new territory when she released her debut novel, the Sunday Times Bestseller The Bricks That Built The Houses.

You may not have heard of Welsh singer Betsy yet, but she's been talking to Newsbeat about the unorthodox route she's taking to pop stardom. 

Having grown up on a goose farm in rural Pembrokeshire, she went on to study fashion and landed an internship with luxury brand Balenciaga in Paris.

"I used to come back to London every weekend to do dodgy open mic nights," she says.

"It was just killing me a bit that I wasn't getting the opportunity to do music all the time."

The 24-year-old soon went back to Wales, where she wrote many of her songs in a caravan in her brother's back garden. 

Her influences include Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin and Candi Staton.

"I love the juxtaposition of sad, melancholic vocals over big beats. Something that sounds up and euphoric but has a heart to it."

The Beatles' Ringo Starr has become a great-grandfather at 76. 

His rep confirmed his granddaughter, Tatia Starkey, and her partner Adam Low welcomed a son on 14 August called Stone Zakomo Low, according to Billboard.

Starkey is the daughter of Ringo's son, Zak, who is a drummer for the Who.

October sees Starr set off on tour with his band, the All-Starrs. They'll be hitting cities around the US, as well as Japan and Korea.

Louis Tomlinson is not happy. He's had to change his mobile number after receiving what he described on Twitter as "disgusting" messages on WhatsApp. 

The 24-year-old new father took to social media to air his grievances and was comforted by fellow One Direction bandmate Niall Horan, who revealed that he too had been on the receiving end of "horrific" messages. 

The pair continued to joke that they should challenge their trolls to a rap battle. 

Tomlinson's loyal fans quickly jumped to his defense, and the hashtag “Respect Louis” was soon trending on Twitter.  

Yesterday we brought you the news that Adele WON'T be doing the Super Bowl's next half-time show, which of course throws up the inevitable question - who will? 

Lady Gaga and Rihanna are among the more obvious choices to follow in the footsteps of Madonna, Coldplay and Katy Perry in February 2017 - but an online campaign backing Kanye West is gathering momentum. 

Kanye's Twitter-using fans have kicked things off with the not-so-catchy hashtag #KanyeWestForSuperBowl51.

The Idolator seems to think his chances are slim though.
